BANGKOK (AP) -- Without firing a shot, Thailand's powerful military seized control of this volatile Southeast Asian nation Thursday, suspending the constitution and detaining Cabinet ministers in a risky bid to end half a year of political upheaval that many fear will only deepen the nation's crisis. The coup, the second in eight years, accomplished in a few minutes what anti-government protesters backed by the nation's traditional elite and staunch royalists had failed to achieve on the street: the overthrow of a democratically elected government they had accused of corruption. The new junta leader, army chief Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha, announced he was taking power almost immediately after talks between the nation's bitter political rivals — which lasted a mere four hours over the last two days — ended in deadlock and the government refused to resign. Prayuth claimed he had to act to restore stability and "quickly bring the situation back to normal" amid increasing spasms of violence that together with controversial court rulings had rendered the government powerless and the country profoundly divided.  The [Thai] military seized power, dissolving the caretaker government, suspending the Constitution and ordering protesters to return home in a bloodless coup Thursday. The power seizure took place after talks between the pro- and anti-government camps failed for a second day Thursday. The army brought them together for talks to settle the country’s protracted political conflict, without success. Military sources said the negotiations were brought to an end after the government insisted on holding on to power. Army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha, who chaired the talks, left the Army Auditorium, the venue of the talks, as soldiers moved in to detain all negotiators and whisked them away in passenger vans. Representatives of the Senate and the Election Commission were later allowed to go free. Radio and television stations were ordered to suspend their normal broadcasts. A curfew between 10pm– 5am was imposed and gatherings of more than five people banned. All schools nationwide were ordered closed from Friday until Sunday. In its first coup statement, the military cited the eruption of violence in Bangkok and other provinces which resulted in many deaths and injuries in the past months as the reasons behind the power seizure. There were no reports of overnight violence. Countries including the United States, Japan and Australia expressed concern and disappointment over the coup, with the U.S. saying there was "no justification" for the takeover. It was unclear why more than 100 people — including the ousted prime minister and several members of the influential Shinawatra family — were ordered to report to the military, which said it was summoning the high-profile figures "to keep peace and order and solve the country's problems." Investigation into Obama Birth Certificate by Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department

FOR YOUR ANALYSIS AND CONSIDERATION:
Periodically there are a flurry of discussions on blog talk sites and internet articles written by those with “insider” information in the matter of the continuing investigation into the Obama Birth Certificate.  The preponderant majority of the information presented is wrong, and usually categorically so.  In the absence of an official announcement by Maricopa County Sheriff Arpaio, it is understandable why people get antsy and begin to question the legitimacy of the previous announcements from Sheriff Arpaio and Chief Investigator Mike Zullo.  I received an email under today’s date advising me that Sheriff Arpaio and Investigator Zullo have been working with the government and shortly will be traveling to Washington, D.C. to serve an arrest warrant on Mr. Obama.  That statement is completely false across the board.  But in the absence of information people can begin to lose faith or comprise their own theories – or both!   

Mentioned below are two sites with several interviews addressing the investigation status.  Radio host Carl Gallups has consistently been correct in his discussions over his radio network: CarlGallups.com. I do not know Mr. Gallups nor have I even talked with him, but if the opportunity arises I will thank him for his responsible manner informing listeners on the slow and methodical investigatory process undertaken by Chief Investigator Mike Zullo.  You will enjoy the recent radio broadcast by Carl Gallups, and you will learn the investigation has not been discontinued or derailed.  I have been privileged to have met and spend time with Mike Zullo.  Investigator Zullo is not a conspiracy theorist or agenda developing guy looking to make a name for himself through this arduous ordeal in which he has found himself.  Mike is a mature Christian who lives by faith, who has faced some serious trials and evil forces as he pursued an investigation initiated by complaint of over 200-Maricopa County, Arizona residents who filed said formal complaint with Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Sheriff Arpaio and Investigator Zullo actually initially thought the complaint could be somewhat easily investigated and a fact of finding would develop by which the Obama Birth Certificate issue could be put to rest.  Unfortunately evidence continued to be uncovered reaching the level of Probable Cause that Fraud had allegedly been perpetrated upon the citizens of Maricopa County, Arizona in the matter of the Obama Birth Certificate.  In the course of looking at every aspect associated with the alleged Fraud, Chief Investigator Zullo began to uncover a number of highly complex but related pieces of evidence which led to an investigation of multiple dimensions well beyond the initial scope of the Birth Certificate.  The press conference Sheriff Arpaio was hoping to hold this past March just could not take place until all matters could be locked together in a seamless case prepared for public view and assessment, and possibly beyond.

There has been much speculation into this case.  When the evidence is presented, I believe you will be stunned and sobered by the findings. You will also learn of the dedicated work, the employment of keen personal investigative skills, and the sincere and professional efforts by those close to the investigation to not just uncover all the facts, but to make certain the evidence will prove to have been compiled with integrity.
