RedState Briefing 04/29/2014

Morning Briefing
For April 29, 2014

To Change America
Stories continue to trickle out about coming Republican betrayals. Once primaries are over, Republicans are going to push amnesty. Once primaries are over, Republicans are going to give up efforts to repeal Obamacare. They’ll tinker instead.

The only way to change the direction of the country is to change the direction of the GOP. The only way to change the direction of the GOP is to unleash hell in Republican primaries. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

They Lied to Us
We told you so.

During the battle to defund Obamacare last fall, we all warned that the schism within the party was about more than strategy; it was about the future of Obamacare itself.

At the time, our opponents within the party mocked our effort to defund Obamacare as a folly and even asserted that our strategy was distracting from the problems with Obamacare itself and would weaken our ability to repeal it.  They promised that as long as we hold tight and wait until Republicans win back control of the Senate, we could repeal Obamacare. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Silencing the Christians
This past Thursday night, before flying to Des Moines for the Family Leader’s Senate Forum, I spoke to the Alliance Defending Freedom in north Atlanta. The Alliance is a Christian ministry that works with lawyers around the country to defend religious liberty. The Alliance has helped students in colleges where secularists have tried to stop Christian voices from being heard. The Alliance has helped doctors and nurses who refused to violate their consciences. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Union Rules: How Teamster Bosses Overruled UPS Members’ Votes
While unions often try to portray themselves as “democratic,” Teamster members of several local unions working at United Parcel Service have learned that this is not always the case.

While most of today’s unions do allow union members to vote on certain matters, if the results do not match what union bosses want, these same unions most often have the ability to override their members through a complicated set of union rules called a union constitution. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

Ten Things Barack Obama Will Need To Do In 2015 Before Republicans Will Begin To Trust Him
Apparently Democrats are getting to the point – however privately – where they’re starting to worry about whether Barack Obama will be ‘betraying’ them next year by making deals with a GOP House and Senate.  Well, I got bad news and good news for the Democrats.  On the one hand, it’s going to be really, really hard for Republicans to believe that Barack Obama would be willing to negotiate in good faith with us.  On the other hand, there is a path of redemption for the President to take along those lines. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

The Vine
Last month, the world was horrified to find out that the remains of aborted and miscarried babies were being incinerated in the United Kingdom to provide heat for hospitals; the awful irony not lost on many. Now, news has broken that the same practice has been taking place for years in the United States. As Life News reports, an energy plant in Oregon has been receiving aborted babies from British Columbia to be burned for electricity. The British Department of Health immediately changed the law to ban using aborted babies for heat. . . . please click here for the rest of the post
