HUTCHISON DISTORTS THE TRUTH IN LATEST CAMPAIGN AD!
To paraphrase Bette Davis as Margo Channing in All About Eve, Fasten your seat-bets it’s going to be a bumpy seven weeks...
We
knew it was coming and it started last week. Mark Hutchison’s campaign
for Lieutenat Governor is desperate. No matter what he does he can’t
gain traction. Perhaps it is his three votes to implement ObamaCare in
Nevada, perhaps it is his 55 votes to increase taxes or fees. Perhaps it
is his actions that show he thinks he’s above the law.
My
opponent is trying to make a campaign issue of a handful of small
donations I made to Harry Reid's campaign three decades ago when Harry
was far less liberal.
What
my opponent is not telling you is that I spent over $2 million, and
counting, to defeat Harry Reid in the last election just four years ago.
Just this morning my opponent accused me of paying off the $2 million I
loaned to the campaign. This is a lie and I am calling him on it. I
did not pay it off, I forgave the loan I made to the campaign which
means there is no way I can ever get that money back.
I do have to give him credit though, he did donate $250 to Sharron Angle in her attempt to defeat Harry Reid in 2010.
On the other hand, my opponent voted for over $1 billion in tax hikes, and voted to
implement ObamaCare right here in Nevada three times, just last year!
Mark Hutchison doesn’t want you to know that my husband Paul and I have been consistent donors to Republicans over the years, donating well over $200,000 to Republican candidates and organizations. Well
before I became involved in politics we mainly supported Republicans.
During that time period we owned the Sahara Hotel and Casino, the
Hacienda Hotel and Casino and built the Santa Fe Hotel, Casino and
Hockey Center and the Pioneer Hotel and Gambling Hall, Laughlin, NV.
Mark
Hutchison’s donations over the years have been mainly to further his
political career. Until he ran for State Senate his only contributions
were to judicial candidates that he appeared before. Of those donations
$8,050.46 were to Democrats. There was one donation for $250 that
might have gone to a Republican but we’re not sure what her political
affiliation was. Particularly egregious were two donations; $2,598.28 to
Elisa Cadish whose 2nd Amendment stance was so extreme she had to
withdraw her nomination as a Federal Judge and Nancy Allf who ran for
the Nevada Supreme Court as a Democrat in violation of Judicial Cannons.
Hutchinson
has been beating me up for alleged 2010 debt concerning the US Senate
campaign. This is not completely fair given that my hands are tied. I
have agreements with all vendors from 2010 except two. Both filed suit
and I prevailed all the way to the Ohio Supreme Court on one of them.
The other lawsuit is pending in Nevada. All other issues have been
resolved. It's crazy that I have to seek permission and wait for the
FEC's approval to close out the 2010 campaign. However, that is the
reality of filing for a federal office.
Now,
a dirty little secret. We all know Hutchison is an attorney. His firm
“specializes” in a myriad of legal areas, including personal injury. The
vast majority of personal injury cases are settled out of court,
probably upwards of 90% personal injury cases never make it to court.
Our crack opposition research team has found 290 cases that his firm has
taken to court, that means they have probably represented 3,000+/-
clients in personal injury cases. One of the main functions an attorney
provides when you hire them in a personal injury case is to “negotiate”
your medical bills. Most medical providers are asked to reduce their
medical bills by a minimum of 30%. Hutchinson is beating me up
for negotiating with campaign vendors( some of the post election
invoices were questionable and not supportable), but he and his law
firm does the exact same thing on a daily basis.
I know this is long but I wanted to let you know what we’re facing, an onslaught of
negative
ads based on questionable issues. All this could be discussed in a
series of debates but my opponent is only agreeing to one further
debate. He likes to say we’ve had four debates but that, once again, is a
figment of his imagination. We have had one debate on Face to Face with
Jon Ralston and that is the only debate we’ve had. The other three
appearances were campaign forums where we were not allowed to address
our opponent or even mention them, that is not a debate.
