Cadbury Bends To Islamic Pressure And Changes Easter
It
seems the Cadbury Bunny is hiding more then just the mini-egg this
year. Or perhaps the company is looking for egg on their face on this
one when 60% of the nation that are Christian find out. Hidden on the
box is a little symbol of compliance to Islamic standards. That’s right,
Cadbury certifies their products as Halal for Easter.
It seems that companies like Krispy Kreme and
others have jumped on a bandwagon to embrace Halal foods. They haven’t
let the potential for 85% of the United States (that identify with any
other religion other then Islam) being insulted from standing in the way
from making money selling to Muslims with a strict tenant for their
diet.
Well,
just in time for Easter (a Christian holiday), Cadbury has jumped on
the bandwagon of selling Halal Cadbury Easter Eggs, Marshmallow Eggs,
Mini-Eggs, and Easter bunnies. In fact Cadbury lists Halal compliant
foods on their site. Muslims will be happy to know that when their
children eats chocolate bunnies from their Easter basket and sneaks that
one last creamy mini-egg into their mosque, it will not be forbidden
because it is Halal.
One
problem: Muslims don’t celebrate Easter. In fact, the entire
celebration of Easter or Passover is against their religion and
considered haram (an insult to their god). So why on earth would you
insult 70% of the United States with stating that you make your products
according to religious standards of a religion that can not celebrate
Easter? The answer is quite simple…for the love of money.
