CHUCK MUTH PRESENTS A CONSERVATIVE VIEW

THE BILBRAY FILES

The Last Act of a Desperate Candidate

a 2In the hilarious Mel Brooks movie Blazing Saddles, Sheriff Bart asked the folks of Rock Ridge, who were packed up to leave the Old West town after being threatened by thugs hired by State Attorney General Hedy (“That’s Hedley”) Lamarr…

“Can’t you see this is the last act of a desperate man?”

That quote immediately came to mind when I read an email from Nevada Democrat congressional candidate Erin Bilbray-Kohn yesterday which began thusly…

**Beware, this email is likely being read by someone else– and not by your family member but by the government.**

Oh, puh-lease.

The issue of government spying on its citizens is a serious issue.  And to suggest, even tongue in cheek, that Uncle Sam is monitoring silly campaign emails from a desperate candidate trivializes the real and legitimate concerns many of us have.

Bilbray-Kohn continues…

Joe Heck and I have differing views when it comes to your privacy and the United States Constitution.  Heck supports the National Security Agency's (NSA) overly broad record collection that impedes the Constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans like you -  I do not.”

Bilbray-Kohn then invites people to sign an online petition “to tell Joe Heck to protect our privacy and to stand up for the United States Constitution.”

Laughable.

This from a woman who falsely accuses Dr. Heck of waging a war on women.

This from a woman who has falsely accused Col. Joe Heck (soon to be Gen. Joe Heck) of being “un-American.”

This from a woman who has falsely accused Rep. Joe Heck of not supporting immigration reform.

This from a woman who falsely told Nevadans that with ObamaCare “you can’t be thrown off your insurance” – perpetuating what has been dubbed “The Biggest Lie of 2013.”

This from a woman who falsely claims to be just a “middle class mom” even though her financial disclosure report shows her family’s household income puts her in the top 4 percent of earners!

And now we’re supposed to believe her when she accuses Congressman Heck of not supporting the United States Constitution?

The Constitution he has sworn to uphold and defend as a Member of Congress.

The Constitution he has defended for 23 years as an officer in the United States Army, including wartime service in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Gimme a break.

I understand that Mrs. Bilbray-Kohn – who has no military experience whatsoever, unless you include watching reruns of M*A*S*H  - is desperately trying to find “wedge” issues to distinguish her lackluster bona fides as a congressional candidate from Rep.|Dr.|Col. Joe Heck.

But on the issue of national defense and NSA surveillance, that dog won’t hunt.

Whose judgment are we supposed to put more trust in when it comes to this very important, literally, life-and-death issue?

A woman whose professional career has been teaching Democrat candidates how to “spin” the media and mislead voters as a campaign trainer, or…

A man who…

  • Is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College with a Masters of Strategic Studies
  • Is a graduate of the Joint Forces Staff College
  • Is a past member  of the Nevada State Homeland Security Commission
  • Has published and lectured widely on responses to terrorism

When it comes to the issue of national security, the notion of replacing Joe Heck with Erin Bilbray-Kohn is akin to replacing Gen. George Patton with Private Forest Gump!

Mrs. Bilbray-Kohn concluded her email with this…

“Together, we must send Heck a loud and clear message.”

I agree.

And that loud and clear message should be:  THANK YOU!!
