MUTH'S TRUTHS 11/22/2013

DIRTY, ROTTEN, LOW-DOWN SCUZZBALLS

Elissa Wahl runs a program for homeschoolers where kids can take elective classes and play with other kids, just like kids going to regular schools.  The RISE Resource Center is operated on a shoestring budget out of a portable building that a church in northwest Las Vegas, on Rancho near Cheyenne, lets the group use during the week.

Anyway, last Monday afternoon, when nobody was around because it was Veterans Day, two punks walked into the courtyard play area and stole the portable basketball hoop that Wahl says “was privately owned by a teen (who) brought it so all the teens who hang out here could play.”

“The kids loved it and used it all the time,” Wahl wrote in an email.

Here’s a video of the two rat-bast*rds walking off with the basketball hoop in broad daylight: Click here

If by some miracle you recognize the low-lifes who ripped off these kids, give Elissa a shout at (702) 241-6170.

Or if you’d like to make a small donation to help replace the basketball hoop, click here

Or mail your check to: RISE Resource Center, 3460 North Rancho Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130.

Stealing from children.  Who do these punks think they are…Congress?

CONSERVATIVE GUV’S BLAST MEDICAID EXPANSION

In a New York Times story today, here’s how conservative Republican Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin explained his refusal to expand Medicaid…

“I said no, because if I took the Medicaid expansion I’d be dependent on the same federal government that can’t get a basic website up and going even after two and a half years to come through with payments for Medicaid in the future when they start weaning off paying for 100 percent of coverage.”

And here’s how conservative Republican Gov. Rick Perry of Texas explains his own opposition to expanding Medicaid…

“It’s like putting 1,000 more people on the Titanic when you knew what was going to happen.”

Added conservative Republican Gov. Nikki Haley of South Carolina on the matter…

“We didn’t just say no, we said never.”

Noted U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, Kentucky Republican…

“Many Republican governors I would say are conservative did resist expanding and accepting Obamacare in their states.”

Nevada Republican governor Brian “BS” Sandoval (R&R-Partners) expanded Medicaid, with the aid-and-comfort of all but four conservative GOP state legislators.  Bring on Conservageddon!

MODERATE MIKE REDISCOVERS HIS “INNER CONSERVATIVE”

It is absolutely amazing how a serious primary challenge refocuses the mind of moderate Republicans.  Take Nevada State Sen. Michael Roberson (please!).

The guy ran as a tea party conservative in 2010…then went RINO on us in 2012 once safely in office, proposing and supporting over $1 BILLION in tax hikes this year alone!

But now that he’s facing a credible and viable Republican challenger, liberty movement leader Carl Bunce, in next year’s primary contest, Moderate Mike is singing a different tune.

Despite voting three times this last legislative session to implement ObamaCare and expand Medicaid, Roberson suddenly this week issued a statement opposing the program – not coincidentally just as the public opinion winds and polls shifted against it.

To which Mr. Bunce issued the following statement on Thursday…

CARL BUNCE WELCOMES MICHAEL ROBERSON BACK TO THE CONSERVATIVE RANKS FOR THE MOMENT WHILE HE REVERSES HIS SUPPORT OF OBAMACARE

Henderson, NV – As Nevadans and others around the United States are trying to shake off the hangover of the flawed and misguided implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA); Carl Bunce noted that “many individuals are realizing for the first time that government mandates, no matter their good intentions do not work as intended, even if their websites eventually do.”

The conservative ranks have been fighting to stop the rollout of the PPACA since 2009, and it seems that Michael Roberson has finally learned that government interventions are unworkable after all, but this disingenuous "reversal" is nothing more than a political lifeline for Michael Roberson.

Michael Roberson has been complicit in the implementation of PPACA and the massive expansion of Medicaid welfare in Nevada with his "Yea" votes in Carson City, even though he could have voted against them as other conservative leaders did with principled opposition to the clearly flawed construction of the PPACA.

Bunce stated, "His recent opposition to government intervention in the market is welcomed, but it is a little too late to help his record of going along to get along with Obamacare."

The current unintended consequences were predictable and are growing by the day. The first signs of fallout started when once full-time employees were getting their hours cut back to less than 30 hours to counter the insurance coverage mandate placed on employers with more than 50 calculated full-time employees.

Soon after the health exchanges opened for business, individuals starting getting letters from their current health insurance carriers, stating that they will no longer be able to provide coverage due to increased costs and regulation. The most ironic surprise for some is that the Affordable Health Care Act has actually increased premiums in Nevada by 179% across all age groups, and we have not even gotten to the tax penalty nightmares yet.

Moderate Mike fooled an awful lot of us in 2010.  Will he get away with it again in 2014 with his born-again opposition to ObamaCare?  And what other conservative principles will he soon again be paying lip-service to…at least until the primary is over?

LOWDEN ON TAXES

Republican lieutenant governor candidate Sue Lowden spoke at the annual Washoe County Republican Party dinner in Reno last week – the one boycotted by Gov. Brian “BS” Sandoval (R&R-Partners) and his running mate, Mark Hutchison.

Gotta love these remarks from Lowden, as reported by Ray Hagar of the Reno Gazette-Journal…

“I was chairman of (Senate) taxation and it was renamed the non-taxation committee and there was a reason for that.  There was not one tax that came out of my committee. That was before Grover Norquist even knew to put a tax pledge in front of us. I knew instinctively that I had to protect your money. I knew instinctively that I had I had to be a good steward for the public money.”

Now contrast that with Hutchison’s record.  In his first and only session in the state senate this year, Hutch voted for over $1 BILLION worth of higher taxes.  That, ladies and gentleman, is what we call a clear contrast.

WHEELER THE ROCK STAR

If the reception he received at the Washoe County GOP dinner in Reno is any indication, rumors of conservative Assemblyman Jim Wheeler’s (R-Northern Nevada) political death have been wildly exaggerated.  From a report by Ray Hagar of the Reno Gazette-Journal

The best part of the Washoe County Republican annual dinner Monday was when various GOP candidates stood in line and one by one, introduced themselves to the crowd.

Embattled Assemblyman Jim Wheeler, R-Minden, got a rock star ovation. Or in this case, a Johnny Cash-like ovation.

Wheeler has been vilified locally and nationally for his “slavery” comments, when he said he’d vote for slavery if that is what his constituents wanted and they held a gun to his head.

But with this crowd, his tribulations seemingly increased his popularity, even if privately, some told me his comments make  Nevada Republicans look stupid.

After Wheeler said, “Good evening, I’m the infamous assemblyman from District 39,” the crowd roared. He got a bigger ovation that Lt. Gov. candidate Sue Lowden and hers was pretty big.

Wheeler then referred to an earlier comment from candidate Jill Dickman, who is running as a Republican in Sparks’ District 31. That’s the district of incumbent Skip Daly, D-Hey, bring it, Jill.

“As Jill said, we get kind of tired with people running on a platform (of conservatism) and then changing their votes when they get up there (to Legislature in Carson City),” Wheeler said. “I think my record shows that I stayed conservative. And I’m not a politician, as you can tell by some of my really dumb statements.”

Good news for Wheeler, but let me give special credit to Ray Hagar here.  He’s the only reporter I’ve seen so far who put the entire Wheeler comment about slavery into proper context by noting that Wheeler said he’d only vote for it with a gun to his head.

As I’ve noted again and again, there are a lot of horrific things each and every one of us would do with a gun to our heads.  Hell, I’d even vote to re-elect Michael Roberson!

Good, professional job, Ray.

DINNER WITH AN AIRMAN

One of our subscribers contacted the “Dinner with Airmen” group arranging for airmen from Nellis and Creech Air Force bases to join Las Vegas families next Thursday for Thanksgiving dinner and received the following email in response…

“Thanks very much for your interest in the Adopt an Airman program. Due to the overwhelming generosity of the people of Las Vegas, we have filled all of the available slots for hosting for this Thanksgiving. If you would like to be placed on our email list for future programs, please let me know and I will do so.  Thanks again, Anil Melnick.”

Apparently our community responded to this effort to show support for our military in a big way!  Makes you proud to be a Las Vegan, doesn’t it?

ANYBODY KNOW ANYBODY IN UTAH?

I’m looking for an individual or organization who shares our concern about protecting our First Amendment rights who might be interested in working against some really bad laws Utah has passed that stifle free speech.  If you know of anyone who might be interested, please shoot me an email to chuck@citizenoutreach.com

BILBRAY FILES

Now this is funny.

In an email blast to supporters Wednesday afternoon, Democrat congressional candidate Erin Bilbray-Kohn hypes a Las Vegas Sun interview.  “I wanted to make sure that you read this article,” Bilbray-Kohn wrote, because “it is important to me that you know where I stand on the issues (and) how I differ from (Rep.) Joe Heck.”

“Differ”?  Heck, she’s darned near plagiarized his positions on job creation and the economy.  But don’t take my word for it, take hers.  Click here

EVENTS

The Nevada Republican Men’s Club will be hosting a happy hour on Tuesday, December 10 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Bootlegger Bistro located at 7700 S. Las Vegas Blvd.  The event is being co-sponsored by the Dan Schwartz for Treasurer campaign.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“Good News for Obama: He's Still More Popular Than Obamacare.” - @TaxReformer

“Despite receiving at least $305 million in federal taxpayer funding, and despite launching an aggressive advertising campaign featuring a psychedelic sun and a farmer aloft on a carrot, the Oregon Obamacare exchange has enrolled zero (0) people. The director of the state exchange says he has given up hope that the website will ever function…” – John Kartch, Americans for Tax Reform, 11/21/13
