With
the national -- and most local -- news organizations breathlessly
covering President Barack Obama's slow march to war against Syria, he
managed on Thursday to find time to perform what he believes is his
primary duty: not disarming Bashar al-Assad's forces or the al-Qaeda
rebels killing and maiming innocent Syrians, but disarming law-abiding
Americans and US businesses who sell firearms, according to a number of
firearms legal experts and police advisors.

While
leading Israeli officials have publicly struck a tone of muted support
for President Obama's decision to seek congressional authorization for
strikes on Syria's chemical weapons delivery systems, in private, senior
Israeli officials and foreign policy analysts are expressing grave

In
an incredible display of bipartisan blindness, leaders of the
Democratic and Republican parties have now declared their support for
President Obama’s proposal for action against Syria. House Speaker John
Boehner (R-OH) stated on Tuesday, “I'm going to support the president's
call for action. I believe my colleagues should support this call for
action.”

One
of the many unintended consequences of the political crusade for
increased homeownership among minorities, and low-income people in

1. On Syria: Not At This Time
For
two years, President George W. Bush made a public case for an invasion
of Iraq. He built public support, international support, and
congressional support. His administration documented CIA intelligence on
weapons of mass destruction, Saddam Hussein’s personal cheerleading
over 9/11, the dictator attempting to assassinate President George H. W.
Bush after the President had left office, Al Qaeda’s use of Iraq as a
training ground for further attacks on our interests, and then he
explained how this all merged into a real and tangible threat to our
national security interests. The United States and its allies prosecuted
the case before the UN Security Council getting more than 16
resolutions over a decade leading up to Bush’s push.
Despite
his multi-year, multilateral effort to build support, in the aftermath
of the war the Democrats called those two years a “rush to war” and
attacked the large multilateral effort as nonexistent. In 2004, our
present Secretary of State, then a Democratic candidate for President,
went out of his way to insult those countries then aiding the effort in
Iraq.

3. Obama Re-enacts Bay of Pigs Invasion
On April 17, 1961 about 1500 Cuban exiles, trained by the CIA landed
at Bahia De Cochinos, Cuba with the goal to overthrow the regime of
Fidel Castro. In English Bahia De Cochinos translates as Bay of Pigs.
The
Bay of Pigs was a hugely irresponsible action not only because it
capitalized upon the enthusiasm of recent exiles and had zero chance of
success under a best case scenario but because of the way it made our
nation look ridiculous and strengthened Castro’s hand. Now we are
looking at the 2013 version
