1. The Candidate Disappoints
It was a historic election. The public rallied and came out to replace the man the public felt had betrayed them.
Here came
a candidate promising real hope. The candidate promised real change.
The candidate promised that he would not make the mistakes of the past.
He’d be no George W. Bush. He’d be honest. He’d fight for what was
right. He’d put the middle class ahead of powerful special interests.
He
promised to roll back the clock on a Washington that had grown too out
of touch and too corrupt to unite the land and stimulate the economy.
So the
voters went into the ballot box in 2010 and elected that candidate. In
2012, the voters went back to the polls and voted for him again. Of
course I’m not talking about Barack Obama. I’m talking about your local
“tea party” Republican. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
2. That Speech
Never has
a President given a speech in which he wished to convince Americans to
take an action he no longer is going to take. He has become to war what
the Clapper is to turning on the lights. War is on and now war is off.
But we will never call it war.
The
President told Americans they need to do this for the children. It is
ironic, considering he has, for a long time, been in favor of
infanticide. But do it for the children we must. Except when we mustn’t.
Because we are not the world’s policeman, he would have us know.
We cannot be everywhere.
But we can be in Syria.
Because of the children. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
3. Ted Cruz Opposes Eric Cantor and Pete Sessions’ “Hug It Out” Plan to Fund Obamacare
Multiple
people confirm to me that just a few hours ago Pete Sessions blew up
about Ted Cruz and made sure everyone in the room knew he held Cruz in
absolute contempt.
It might be because Ted Cruz just called BS on Eric Cantor and Pete Sessions trying to screw conservatives.
Cantor
and Sessions are pursuing a plan to make it very easy for the House to
vote for defunding Obamacare while ensuring Obamacare is still able to
get funded. Cruz, in a press release earlier today, called on the House
of Representatives to not get cute and actually defund Obamacare. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
4. Libya: Obama’s other foreign-policy disaster
The
Weekly Standard offers a glum assessment of Obama’s fiasco in Syria:
“With the Russian proposal on Syrian chemical weapons, the United States
is being escorted out of the Middle East.” . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
5. Obama Administration Claims Victory. The World Laughs.
Thanks
to the gaffe of Secretary of State John Kerry, the Obama administration
was temporarily extricated from a political disaster of its own making
when Russia accepted one of Kerry’s inane ramblings as a negotiating
position.
The administration is hailing this as a success:
“It’s
very important to note that it’s clear that this proposal comes in the
context of the threat of U.S. action and the pressure that the president
is exerting,” deputy national security adviser Tony Blinken** said at
the White House. “So it’s even more important that we don’t take the
pressure off and that Congress give the president the authority he’s
requested.”
Nothing could be further from the truth. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
6. Kerry, Obama, Spar Over “Credit”
While
the world waits for the next development in the Syria debacle,
Secretary of State John Kerry and President Obama passive-aggressively
battle over credit for the idea to allow Russia as mediator.
Kerry
was sure to remind everyone that his “rhetorical” challenge for Assad
to turn over chemical weapons was accidental genius and as of such, he
deserves credit. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
