In an email that was sent to the Alabama Republican Party
steering committee, one of the committee’s members expressed concerns that the Party may have committed Social Security fraud.
The
email, which was obtained by Yellowhammer News, was sent by Jeff
Peacock, ALGOP Vice Chair for Congressional Districts 1 and 2.
In
the email, Peacock says that a portion of a compensation package
designed for ALGOP Chief of Staff Harold Sachs bore similarities to a
package designed for a Washington County jailer which resulted in the
county’s sheriff being indicted on fraud charges.

On

An
amendment proposed last week to the bylaws of the Alabama
Republican Party would have removed from the Party’s steering committee
any member who publicly supports a position contrary to the most recent
GOP platform, which was adopted during the 2012 Republican National
Convention.
The
amendment’s sponsors, Don Wallace of Tuscaloosa and Bonnie Sachs of
Double Springs, have narrowed the scope of their amendment to only deal
with the issues of gay marriage and abortion.

Here’s a new rule to apply to aspiring presidential
candidates: If you have to say you’re considering a run this early, you’re likely not in the top-tier candidate pool.
For the third tier candidate, being coy is a vice — not a virtue.
Take
John Bolton, the former U.N. ambassador known for his trademark bushy
mustache, who sat down with the National Review to stress his
seriousness about pursuing the highest office in the land.

Ellie Cohen dove into Joe Biden’s polling problem last week,
highlighting how his nomination would increase the odds of
Republicans taking back the White House in 2016.
There’s new evidence out of Virginia — part of the Holy Trinity of battleground states — that lends more credence to the case.
In
hypothetical match-ups against Chris Christie — one of the most
electable GOPers considering a run — Hillary Clinton holds a notable
advantage over the New Jersey governor whereas Biden trails him,

After
being accused of impersonating a police officer for the
second time, Matt Pitt, founder of Birmingham area youth ministry, The
Basement, gave a wide-ranging interview to Kalisha Whitman of NBC’s
Birmingham affiliate. In the interview, Pitt declared his innocence,
flashed his honorary sheriff’s badge, suggested his life was in danger
and accused the police of targeting him for political gain… and much,
much more.
