1. Losing the Battle. Winning…
My friends, the case of Elane Photography v. Willock has been decided. As I tell you regularly, you will be made to care.
The case
centered around Elaine Huguenin, a Christian in New Mexico who owned a
photography business. She was asked to provide services to a gay
commitment ceremony between two lesbians, Vanessa Willock and her
partner. Ms. Huguenin and her husband declined to provide their services
because they are Christians and the orthodox tenets of their faith tell
them that marriage is between a man and a woman. See e.g. Matthew 19.
Vanessa
Willock, in an act of spite and retribution, decided to file a
discrimination claim and punish Mrs. Huguenin for adhering to her
religious beliefs. In a very profound decision, the New Mexico Supreme
Court ruled that Christians, Muslims, Orthodox Jews, and others must
surrender the faithful practice of their religion in the name of
citizenship.
In fact, Justice Richard Bosson in a concurring opinion, wrote . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
2. GOP Leadership Plan for CR/Obamacare: Meekness or Malice
At some point, rank-and-file conservative activists will have to confront an inconvenient reality. The Republicans in Washington are not just dumb or spineless – they are the problem. They don’t share our values and seek to undermine our beliefs. The only way that will change is if we return the favor and thwart their political careers.
Earlier this evening, Speaker John Boehner announced his grand plans for fighting Obamacare in the budget. He
will pass a short-term continuing resolution (CR) until some time in
December, grouping the new budget deadline with the debt ceiling date,
and create another grand end-of-year fiscal cliff. He will fund Obamacare in the short term CR, but by George, he will fight like hell in the debt ceiling battle! For now, they will make the short term CR about locking in the sequester cuts. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
3. Al Gore Channels Nigel Tufnel
In
a “lightly edited”* interview transcript with the Washington Post‘s
Ezra Klein, Former Vice President and Nobel** Laureate Al Gore puts
climate deniers on the same moral plane as supporters of slavery and
apartheid. (Clear logical connection there, Mr. Vice-President.) Then Al
disgorges this little chestnut of wisdom . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
4. Manning is attempting to game the political system
Upon
being sentenced to 35 years in prison and losing his rank, Private
Manning chose this moment to announce “I am female.” Manning claims that
the name Bradley is no longer to be used. Chelsea Manning is the name
we are to use. Manning’s lawyer are all over this, too, claiming that it
is now a right to begin hormone therapy on the taxpayer dime.
Everything
about this stinks, though. There’s no evidence of a medical diagnosis.
The timing is all too perfect. The political effects are undeniable, in
that Manning will get a new group of people who will reflexively give
defense because of this newly claimed status. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
