During
hearings held by the House Oversight Committee yesterday, Democrat
lawmakers chose to use the occasion to attack the integrity of the
Inspector General! Meanwhile, the liberal lapdog media is chanting,
“There’s nothing to see here.”
The
familiar liberal tactics of “accuse; diminish; silence” are being used
to try to sweep the intensifying IRS scandal under the rug. But the IRS
abuse has been so widespread and so egregious that it is becoming clear
that the management culture of that agency is totally corrupt.
Now
that testimony has established a clear link between the targeting of
conservative groups and the office of the IRS Chief Counsel in
Washington, DC, the entire administration cover story is unraveling
fast. The IRS Chief Counsel is a political appointee approved by the
President himself.

Conservatives,
Yesterday,
in a venomous attack against Inspector General (IG) J. Russell George,
Democrat lawmakers implied that his report on IRS targeting was skewed
for political gain.
But George stood his ground and expressed great concern over the tone of the accusations…
“I
have to admit, I am a little concerned that this type of forum could
have a chilling effect on the operations of Inspectors General. We’ve
never treated an IG office like this.”
This
mean-spirited assault comes on the heels of recent disclosures that the
IRS Chief Counsel’s office demanded information on 2010 Election
activity of Tea Party applicants.
++Peggy Noonan, author and former advisor to President Reagan, call this news a “bombshell”!
In
damaging testimonies, career IRS officials in Washington now say that
Lois Lerner ordered Tea Party cases to go through a multi-layer review
that included her senior advisor and the IRS Chief Counsel’s office.
The
IRS Chief Counsel’s office is led by William Wilkins, one of two Obama
Administration political appointees at the IRS. The channeling of
conservative applicants through the Chief Counsel was a highly unusual
procedure, according to testimony before the committee. It is yet
another scathing indictment of the IRS’ lack of integrity and
impartiality.
This
allegation now directly ties the Washington, DC, IRS office to the
targeting of conservative groups, which is certainly contrary to prior
IRS official testimony – and once again reveals the potential of
higher-level involvement than has been previously admitted.
PLUS,
the news of the Chief Counsel’s involvement also follows the disclosure
that the IRS inappropriately accessed and scrutinized the tax records
of political candidates and donors during the time frame that targeting
of conservative groups took place.
It
has also come to light that when the Department of Justice (DOJ) was
notified of these illegal actions, the DOJ swept it under the rug and
refused to prosecute.
++The mainstream media (MSM) is now ignoring the IRS scandal.
With
few exceptions, the MSM has never been on the forefront of reporting on
Obama’s scandals, but now they are executing their “stand down” orders
by saying, “There’s nothing to see here.”
A
USA Today editorial proclaimed: “IRS scandal starts to lose luster.”
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell reported, “IRS hearing uncovers no evidence
of Washington scandal…again.”
Clearly, these news outlets are intentionally downplaying the scandal. This is a classic strategy from the Obama playbook.
That’s
why our petition and the attention it will garner is so important, and
