Rick Perry had kind things to say about Wendy Davis at the National Right to Life meeting going on in Dallas. The Left is now fully outraged. Wendy Davis is fundraising against it. They’re calling it “surprisingly personal criticism of Davis.”

3. Tammy Duckworth: Political Hack, Professional Victim, Schoolyard Bully
I’ve been stunned to see people I generally respect applauding a member of Congress for heaping invective upon a private citizen who is not given the opportunity to respond without creating legal difficulties for himself. It doesn’t take a large person to hector a defenseless witness for the benefit of the cameras. To the contrary, it takes a small, petty, and vindictive person to abuse their position of power.
Duckworth’s talent is completely defined by her combat injuries. She is a political hack of the worst sort. She has coasted from obscurity to a House seat by toeing the Democrat party line and milking her injuries for all they are worth. Her supporters, like those of the unlamented Max Cleland, paint her opponents as anti-veteran simply because she is a disabled veteran. She is the poster child for how to use a service connected disability to mask your underlying mediocrity while playing the victim when challenged on policy matters.

4. Nonexistent Frogs and Endangered Private Property Rights
St. Tammany Parish, across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans, is one of the highest-growth parishes (counties) in Louisiana. The Poitevent family is the largest landowner in the parish.
As it turns out, 1,500 acres of the family holdings are considered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to be critical habitat for an endangered species: the dusky gopher frog (Rana sevosa), a/k/a the Mississippi gopher frog, declared endangered in 2001. The Poitevents are suing the feds to prevent their land from being permanently ruled off-limits for development. Today a federal judge allowed the Center for Biological Diversity and the Gulf Restoration Network, two private environmental groups, to join in the suit. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
5. Why the Democrats are about to HAMMER young people on student loan rates.
Basically, the mess here is due to a combination of ham-handed incompetence and a basic petty inability to compromise. To drastically over-simplify: the President wanted a deal on student loan rates; Senate Republicans are happy to oblige the President, given that Obama is willing to give away a bit, for a change (and the alternative is the House Republican plan, which both Obama and the Senate hate); Senate Democrats got their noses out of joint on the subject; and now they’re yelling at each other and having dueling press conferences and generally doing what Washington, DC does best. Which is to say, nothing – but nothing is being done in a dynamic and very earnest manner that assures people that Issues Are Being Addressed. . . . please click here for the rest of the post →
