Stop IRS From Targeting Conservatives  We alerted you earlier to the reports about how the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has admitted that theydeliberately harassed conservative political organizations claiming tax exempt status, such as Tea Party groups, by singling them out for additional scrutiny and investigation. Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS division that oversees tax exempt groups, has admitted that at least 75 organizations were singled out because they included the words “tea party” or “patriot” in their applications for tax exempt status. While she acknowledged that actions were clearly violations of IRS policies, she laid the blame on “low-level workers” in the Cincinnati IRS office. Power of Moore Tornado Dwarfs Hiroshima Bomb  Wind, humidity and rainfall combined precisely to create the massive killer tornado in Moore, Okla. And when they did, the awesome amount of energy released over that city dwarfed the power of the atomic bomb that leveled Hiroshima. On Tuesday afternoon, the National Weather Service gave it the top-of-the-scale rating of EF-5 for wind speed and breadth and severity of damage. Criminal alien allegedly rapes, brutalizes 9-year-old in ‘Sanctuary City’  An Ecuadorian criminal alien, who was released last year when Baltimore, Md., became a sanctuary city, was arrested by federal agents for the violent rape of a 9-year-old girl, according to a Judicial Watch report released on Monday. While the rape occurred in the city of Baltimore, the suspect, Henry Estrella-Cordova, was nabbed by officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) and not members of the Baltimore Police Department, said the public-interest group that investigates government corruption and abuse. Operation Vigilant Eagle: Is This Really How We Honor Our Nation’s Veterans?  Just in time for Memorial Day, we’re being treated to a generous serving of praise and grandstanding by politicians, corporations and others with similarly self-serving motives eager to go on record as being pro-military. Patriotic platitudes aside, however, America has done a deplorable job of caring for her veterans. A bee in their bonnet  Chemophobic anti-pesticide groups are at it again. This time they’re attacking a widely used and safe new insecticide, but their assertions and real agendas are nothing new. Radical environmentalism rose to ascendancy on opposition to pesticides, specifically DDT. “If the environmentalists win on DDT,” Environmental Defense Fund scientist Charles Wurster told the Seattle Times in 1969, “they will achieve a level of authority they have never had before.” Using Rachel Carson’s often inaccurate book Silent Spring to drive a nasty campaign, they succeeded in getting the Environmental Protection Agency to ban US production and use of DDT in 1972, leading to a de facto global ban even to combat malaria.
