The food-stamp program, one of the government's largest entitlements, was created and designed to expand when the economy sagged and to shrink when the economy recovered.   With President Obama and the media insisting that the "financial crisis is over and the recession ended in 2009," why is the already bloated $80-billion-a-year, food-stamp program continuing to swell? The Wall Street Journal reports that "enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) ... has soared 70 percent since 2008 to a record 47.8 million as of December 2012." A quick calculation reveals that one in every 6.5 Americans are currently receiving food stamps. And that number continues surging by more than 13,000 citizens each day. So why isn't the program shrinking? There are a number of factors, but WSJ suggests beyond a "sluggish job market and a rising poverty rate," many states are being encouraged to expand the food stamp program knowing that the federal government is picking up the tab. No, wait! YOU'RE PICKING UP THE TAB!!! But there's more. Obama has pushed for an easing of requirements so that people with higher incomes and savings can get on board the food stamp train before they become destitute.   + + From Cradle To Grave Patriot, when Barack Hussein Obama took office, he was the architect of the federal takeover of our health care system.
