NAME THEM CORRECTLY
by Lee S Gliddon Jr
To 'immigrate' is to: : to enter and usually become established; especially : to come into a country of which one is not a native for permanent residence.
To be an Immigrant is to leave one's place of citizenship and gain admittance, legally, to a country to whose government accepts one and to assimilate into that country's culture.
By these definitions there can be no Illegal Immigrants.
Now, look at the word, 'alien,' : relating, belonging, or owing allegiance to another country or government.
If you choose to remain uneducated you may use the term Illegal Immigrant to describe a person who has chosen to enter a country illegally, but the correct description of such a person is Illegal Alien.
There are those who say, "America is a land of immigrants." They are only partially correct.
The men and women that initially entered this nation were Pilgrims. As there was no central government they could not be correctly named as Immigrants. After forming a government those Pilgrims had formed a citizenship then allowed entry to those who chose to forgo citizenship in their country of birth, conform to the accepting country's laws and assimilate.
With these explanations given it is clearly seen that persons entering a country or failing to leave after Visa expiration are in violation of America's laws. So, when you hear the words Illegal Immigrant you are listening to a person who is wrong in thought and refusing to accept fact. The correct description of such person is Illegal Alien and that is a fact!
