This morning, the Israeli military launched an air strike that killed Ahmed Jabari, the head of the Hamas military wing, as he travelled in his vehicle through Gaza City. Jabari had long topped the Israeli “most wanted list” among Hamas terrorists.
The successful anti-terrorism strike came after a heavy wave of rocket fire into Israel from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. A Hamas statement shortly afterward stated that the strike “has opened the gates of hell.”
It has never been more important for Americans to declare strong support for the nation of Israel and its leadership, but the prospect of unwavering United States backing seems unlikely in a second Obama term of office. Please read my urgent message below – Mat.
Conservatives,
In the days following Barack Obama’s reelection, radical Muslims have fired over 100 rockets from Gaza into Israel, dramatically escalating the violence in the Middle East.
Is it just a coincidence that radical Islamists now feel inspired to renew their attacks on Israel just after the U.S. presidential election took place?
As a friend of mine in Israel recently walked through the Arab Muslim quarter of Jerusalem, she heard Muslims shouting in the streets, “Obama is our friend!” That’s no coincidence.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released this statement yesterday:
The world needs to understand that Israel will not sit idly by in the face of attempts to attack us. The IDF [Israel Defense Force] is operating, and will operate, aggressively against the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak said of a possible Israeli military response to the increasing rocket fire:
It is Hamas that will pay the heavy price, a price that will be painful.
++Israelis are deeply concerned about the U.S. leadership.
The day after President Obama’s reelection, Rabbi Abraham Cooper wrote to Fox News that Israelis were “worried.” He went on to say:
…if the president decides to secure his foreign policy legacy in the Middle East, Israelis will need to see real progress in removing Iran’s existential threat and in America’s leadership in blunting the virulent anti-Semitism of the Muslim Brotherhood, before considering further risk-taking with a shaky Palestinian partner.
In a related event, The Jerusalem Post reported:
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas threw cold water on President Barack Obama’s election victory, answering the president with a direct “no” after Obama told him his administration is opposed to the PA’s unilateral move for recognition by the United Nations General Assembly.
Abbas effectively snubbed the President of the United States. He has become emboldened to take an even stronger anti-Israel position by Obama’s reelection, as has the Muslim Brotherhood.
Further, the Associated Press reported that Iran’s Vice President made a strongly belligerent post-election statement:
Tehran will break the “grasping hands” of newly re-elected President Barack Obama.
++More foreign policy woes coming in Obama II.
As the Obama administration has worked to support the Muslim Brotherhood in several nations, radical Islamists have been emboldened. One result is that animosity toward Israel is once again on the rise.
President Obama cannot have it both ways! This administration is approaching a dangerous international crisis if it thinks it can endorse and advance the Muslim Brotherhood and radical Islam while saying that we remain an ally of Israel.
How can we advance radical Islamic factions without jeopardizing the security of Israel? Further, it is also clear that advancing the Muslim Brotherhood will inevitably threaten our own national security.
Our contacts in Israel emphasize that the slightest spark right now could ignite a Middle East conflict of epic proportions – one which Iran would use as “political cover” to attack Israel. There is no doubt in the minds of the Israeli leadership that Iran will deploy nuclear weapons at the earliest moment they are fully developed.
But whatever the situation, Liberty Counsel has repeatedly vowed to stand with Israel! That will certainly not change if open warfare erupts in the region.
The bottom line: Barack Obama’s misguided foreign policies have placed Israel squarely in the crosshairs of conflict.
++We MUST stand with Israel!
We, as pro-Israel Americans, must remain faithful and we must stand with Israel.
We have written an open letter which will be delivered to Prime Minister Netanyahu, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, and seven key American congressional leaders. We believe the letter will be widely distributed among the senior Israeli leadership, as well.
We cannot allow the Obama administration to undermine our relationship with Israel. Please, click here to read the open letter.

Even if you have signed our pro-Israel petitions and letters before, please take a moment right now and add your name to this time-critical, focused letter. We know from our many contacts with senior members of the Israeli government that specific, timely messages of support from American friends have a tremendously positive impact!

Liberty Counsel supports Israel for both biblical and national security reasons. Israel is a Middle East bastion of democracy and individual freedom and is the birthplace of the Judeo-Christian concept of the rule of law – which, in turn, became the foundation of Western (and American) Civilization.
As I have discussed with Prime Minister Netanyahu, the United States and Israel are the pillars of Western Civilization and our nations’ fates are inextricably linked. We MUST stand with Israel!
Explosive events in the Middle East only accentuate our need to demonstrate that support right now!
Explosive events in the Middle East only accentuate our need to demonstrate that support right now!
Please take a moment to join Liberty Counsel in encouraging key leaders in Israel that the citizens of the United States of America stand with Israel, regardless of what misguided policies the Obama Administration may adopt!

P.S. President Obama cannot be given a foreign policy pass in his second term. In the midst of rising tensions in the Middle East, we will continue to stand united with Israel, acknowledge Israel’s sovereignty, and advocate Jerusalem as Israel’s God-ordained, undivided capital. Signing this powerful open letter is a way for you to join us in this show of solidarity!
