As Middle East violence escalates, over half of Israel’s population is now under fire from terrorist rockets. The latest reports indicate that more than 50 rockets – some of them Iranian-made Fajr-5 long range missiles – have been fired today alone. Israel’s most populous city, Tel Aviv, is among the targets and today even Jerusalem came under the crosshairs.
America’s mainstream media ignored the barrage of rockets launched by Hamas into Israel that came on the heels of Barack Obama’s reelection. But Israel’s responsive attack a week later that took out Hamas military leader Ahmed Jabari is getting major attention, as are the Israeli Air Force’s (IAF) attacks on missile silos and other military targets in and around Gaza City.
This is outrageous hypocrisy on the part of America’s leftist media! Israel is suffering war-like conditions!
Even in Tel Aviv, which has not come under fire since the first Gulf War in 1990–91, air raid sirens are almost continuously blaring as frightened Israeli men, women, and children are forced to stay under cover.
Meanwhile, answering the call to defend its people, Israel is currently amassing more than 16,000 ground troops should a ground invasion into the Gaza Strip be deemed necessary, and as many as 75,000 reservists may be called into action.
This latest attack on the sovereignty of Israel underscores the vital need for Americans to declare strong support for the nation of Israel and its leadership. It is vital that President Obama pledge unwavering support for our ally, Israel, and for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

I am in regular contact with Israelis in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and other cities who provide me first-hand accounts of what is happening. I assure you, the Israeli people are strong and resolved.
They want peace and are determined to defend themselves from terrorists. They have that right and we must support them regardless of the misinformation being spread in unsympathetic media reports!
That’s why I urgently want to hand-deliver tens of thousands of petitions of support from grassroots Americans to key Israeli leadership, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
We also want to deliver these strong statements of support to key American officials like UN Ambassador Susan Rice and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Again, no one knows how this latest assault against the people of Israel will play out, but I don’t want to miss this opportunity to show support. From what we know of this rapidly escalating crisis, I feel we must move quickly.

In the days immediately following Barack Obama’s reelection, terrorists fired over 300 rockets from Gaza into Israel – some of them long-range Fajr-5 rockets made in Iran, capable of reaching deep into Israel’s highly populated urban centers.
Until their surgical retaliation against the Hamas leadership, Israel showed incredible restraint. Since the U.S. elections, radical Islamists have clearly been inspired to renew and even step up their deadly attacks on Israel.
Is that just a coincidence?
As a friend of mine in Israel walked through the Arab Muslim quarter of Jerusalem last week, she heard Muslims shouting in the streets, “Obama is our friend!” That’s no coincidence.
++Israelis are deeply concerned about the U.S. leadership.
The day after President Obama’s reelection, Rabbi Abraham Cooper wrote to Fox News that Israelis were “worried.” He went on to say:
…if the president decides to secure his foreign policy legacy in the Middle East, Israelis will need to see real progress in removing Iran’s existential threat and in America’s leadership in blunting the virulent anti-Semitism of the Muslim Brotherhood, before considering further risk-taking with a shaky Palestinian partner.
Because of Barack Obama’s support of the Muslim Brotherhood in several nations, radical Islamists have been emboldened, and deadly aggression against Israel is dramatically on the rise.
President Obama cannot have it both ways!
This administration is approaching a cataclysmic international crisis if it thinks it can endorse and advance the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and elsewhere while saying that we remain an ally of Israel.
How can we advance radical Islamic factions without jeopardizing the security of Israel? Further, it is also clear that advancing the Muslim Brotherhood will inevitably threaten our own national security.
Our contacts in Israel say the situation is akin to a tinderbox, and the slightest spark could ignite a Middle East conflict of epic proportions.
That’s why Liberty Counsel is stepping up efforts to rally grassroots support for Israel – to demonstrate to its leadership and its people that they are not alone in their struggle against terror!

We, as pro-Israel American Christians, are instructed by no less an authority than the Word of God to pray for and stand with the nation of Israel.
We have written an open letter that will be delivered to Prime Minister Netanyahu, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, and seven key American congressional leaders. We believe the letter will be widely distributed among the senior Israeli leadership, as well.
