ARKANSAS - TOM COTTON FOR CONGRESS - DISTRICT 4

TOM COTTON FOR U.S. HOUSE
IN ARKANSAS 4TH
Combat Veteran Brings Needed Strength to Congress
in Contest for Open Seat
URGENT: United States Army combat veteran Tom Cotton CAN WIN as the Republican nominee for AR District 04 – but he needs YOUR help!
Tom is running for the seat Democrat Congressman Mike Ross held for 12 years, but opened to challenge by a strong Republican with his retirement in 2012. This District was created in 1875 and has had only one GOP Congressman since, who served 4 terms in the 1990s.
Tom Cotton can make history, if YOU help him TODAY!

Patriot PAC is proud and honored to endorse Tom Cotton for Arkansas 4th Congressional District. Tom is a constitutional conservative committed to limited government, fiscal accountability, and ethical conduct by those entrusted with the powers of elected office.
Tom Cotton will work to restore constitutional constraints on government, rein in the out-of-control spending of Washington, DC and contain the over-reaching grasp of the intrusive Obama Administration. As Tom says, "Because power is necessary in government but men are apt to abuse power, the Constitution controls governmental power by making it representative, separated, and limited. Too many politicians view these precautions as an inconvenient restraint on their grand ambitions, but I believe the constitutional structure is an essential safeguard of liberty."
According to the pundits, AR-04 (Open D, Rep. Mike Ross retiring): Tom Cotton already achieved one high hurdle, beating former Mike Huckabee aide (and 2010 nominee) Beth Ann Rankin in the GOP primary. Now, we need your help to defeat Democrat state Sen. Gene Jeffress, Tom Cotton's opponent, and FLIP this seat to turn Arkansas's House delegation all-Republican for the first time since Reconstruction!
Former Captain Thomas B. Cotton, US Army is eminently qualified to serve in Congress, and rise quickly there in leadership. Here is his story:
Tom resides in Dardanelle in Yell County, Arkansas where he was born and raised.
A sixth-generation Arkansan, Tom Cotton arrived on May 13, 1977 and grew up in Dardanelle, Arkansas on his family's cattle farm. He graduated from Dardanelle High School in June 1995, attending Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts where in June 1998 he graduated with Honors with a BA in Political Science. He subsequently graduated from Harvard Law School where he earned his JD in June 2002.
After completing law school, Tom clerked for Federal Appellate Judge Jerry Smith, in the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in Houston, TX. Then he entered private practice, where he concentrated in labor, employment, and constitutional law, working in cases at all levels of state and federal courts.
Following the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center, Tom felt the call to serve his country in uniform. It seems his devotion to duty and the Constitution is one of both theory and practice! Tom ultimately left his law practice to join his brothers in arms in the US Army. He declined offers of a direct commission as an Army JAG officer, volunteering instead to serve as an infantryman. Tom was sworn in the US Army in Houston, Texas as an enlisted man, E-4, on January 11, 2005 and entered Officer's Candidate School in March 2005.
Tom completed training and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt on June 30, 2005. After commissioning, 2nd Lt Cotton entered a 14 week Officer's Basic Course at Fort Benning, GA which he completed in November 2005. He then completed Ranger School, earning his Ranger Tab, and Airborne School, earning his Parachutist Badge.
On May 19, 2006, 2nd Lt Cotton deployed on Operation Iraqi Freedom to Baghdad as a platoon leader with the 101st Airborne Division.
2nd Lt Cotton was responsible for a 41 man air-assault infantry platoon, and planned and led daily combat patrols. He completed his first combat tour in Iraq on November 20, 2006, and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and various campaign and service medals. Tom was promoted to 1st Lt on December 30, 2006.
Following his Iraqi deployment, 1st Lt Cotton was assigned as a platoon leader at The Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery, where he was responsible for conducting military honors funerals for Veterans of World War II to today's combat operations in the world wide war on terrorism.
In 2008, 1st Lt Cotton volunteered to return to combat duty, was promoted to Captain on August 1, 2008, and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom on October 15, 2008. He was assigned to Laghman Province, just north of the Tora Bora Mountains in eastern Afghanistan. He was assigned duty as the Operations Officer of a Provincial Reconstruction Team, where he planned and resourced daily counterinsurgency and reconstruction operations for an 83-member joint and interagency team. Tom returned from Afghanistan on July 20, 2009.
For his second tour in Afghanistan, Tom was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the NATO Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and various campaign and service medals. He was honorably discharged from the US Army on September 26, 2009 at Fort Meyer, VA.
Following his active duty military service, Tom worked as a management consultant for McKinsey and Company. As a business consultant, Tom has advised some of America's most respected companies on business strategy, operations, finance and marketing.
Tom's business experience includes agribusiness, health care, oil and gas, food processing, insurance and aerospace. Tom knows well what few in Washington seem to grasp; that "only businesses and entrepreneurs – not politicians – can create jobs. What government can and should do is ensure a free-market, job-friendly environment where businesses and entrepreneurs have the certainty and incentives to invest, innovate, grow, and hire."
Tom's campaign platform is a model of constitutional conservatism; the issues he makes his priority ARE the logical imperatives to protect, defend and restore our republic. Tom is a dedicated, knowledgeable and trained guardian of our liberty. He has publicly committed in his elected service to:
  • Defend the Constitution
  • Promote Job Creation
  • Stop the Spending and Cut the Debt
  • Reduce and Simplify Taxes
  • Repeal and Replace ObamaCare
  • Secure Energy Independence
  • Protect National Security
  • Secure the Border and Enforce Immigration Laws
  • Promote Parental and Local Control in Education
  • Uphold the Second Amendment
  • Defend Traditional Values
  • Honor Veterans
This platform is sterling, and we commend Tom Cotton for its clarity. Tom has appeared on numerous television and radio programs as an expert commentator with firsthand knowledge of America's policy on Afghanistan and Iraq. These appearances include interviews on Fox & Friends, Larry King Live, CNN American Morning, the Hugh Hewitt Show, and the Laura Ingraham Show.
Regarding his defense positions as a candidate, Tom has stated:
"The foremost responsibility of the federal government is to provide for the common defense. I am an Army Ranger and a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. I have fought on the front lines to protect our country, and I will fight in Congress to keep America safe through a strong national defense and leadership in the world.
I volunteered to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I believe those wars are just and necessary. As a veteran, I want to bring our troops home as much as anyone, but I want to bring them home victoriously. I don't believe in exit strategies; I believe in victory strategies. In Congress, I will stand up to President Obama, whose short-sighted and politically motivated decisions threaten the lives and money that America has invested in these wars."
As a life-long member of the District and the community, Tom shares his neighbors' heartfelt convictions and respects their deepest concerns. Tom is a member of the VFW, the NRA, the Yell County Republican Committee, the Arkansas State Bar, the Yell County Wildlife Federation, the Military Officers Association, and the First United Methodist Church of Dardanelle.
Tom's father, Len Cotton, is a Vietnam veteran; he served with the 4th Infantry Division and earned the Combat Infantryman Badge. Len is the Vice Chair of the American Legion Boys State and a Commissioner on the Arkansas Veterans Commission. Tom's grandfather was a combat veteran of WWII.
Tom is a heartland American patriot and warrior; a defender of all that makes American the shining city on the hill. He is has heard the call of duty, honor, country – and honored the call. A soldier, a scholar, a patriot… Now he is home again, working on his family cattle farm, spending time with his family and friends, and running marathons. But again, he feels the tug of duty, and hears the call.
So he has volunteered for service in our nation's capital!
Tom speaks passionately of his commitment to Veterans:
"I am a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, my father is a Vietnam veteran, and my grandfather was a World War II veteran. Between my combat tours, I served at Arlington National Cemetery, where I performed funerals for our fallen veterans; I also took my soldiers to visit their wounded comrades at Walter Reed. I understand personally the sacrifices of our veterans and I will always ensure that we honor their service and patriotism.
I will work in Congress to uphold Abraham Lincoln's injunction to ‘care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan.' I will fight to preserve and protect veterans' benefits, which are truly a form of deferred compensation for those who performed the highest service to our country. I will also work to ensure that the Department of Veterans Affairs modernizes its processes and has the resources needed to timely and accurately process benefits claims. I will promote veterans' employment, both for reservists who are returning to civilian life and veterans leaving active duty. Finally, I will support measures to improve military quality of life for our veterans who are still serving and for their families, who sacrifice in their own right."
Fewer than 20% of those serving in the halls of Congress currently have anymilitary experience. America needs trained, experienced leaders in Washington, like Tom Cotton – men who have seen the field of battle and have the grit and guts, the trained leadership skills – to protect America from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
We need to serve our nation's best interests by doing everything we can to ELECT VETERANS to the People's House in Washington DC and return competency, pride and patriotism to our Republic!
It is not about party, or partisanship – but it IS all about patriotism, pride and philosophy of how Americans should govern themselves! As we have seen in recent political battles in Wisconsin, Indiana and Texas – THERE IS A WAY FOR WE THE PEOPLE TO GET AMERICAN BACK ON THE RIGHT PATH!
ONE THING IS CERTAIN, WE NEED STRONG LEADERS; MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE LOYAL TO THE CONSTITUTION, AND HAVE EARNED OUR TRUST.
Tom Cotton's contest for Congress also embodies three main fiscal principles: lowering taxes, strengthening the economy, and fostering a pro-growth business climate, which in turn will provide more jobs, more stability and more independent security for Arkansan – and American – families.
Recognition that we live in a dangerous world does not make our veterans apologists for war – on the contrary. No one hates war like those who have fought it. Yet, the oath every government official takes to uphold and defend the Constitution has no expiration date. Our military men and women know this, but it seems like our "politicians first" have a hard time with the concept. We need to elect those who have proven they put "duty, honor, country" ahead of personal ambition.
Time is short to raise the money and support needed to elect this tried-and-true defender of liberty and freedom to the United States Congress! Tom Cotton needs your help TODAY!
NOW is the time to step up for this proven leader and candidate who has earned our support in a tough – but WINNABLE – contest for the U.S. Congress!
Tom Cotton has already shown he will fight courageously and tenaciously for duty, honor, country.
Help us elect Tom Cotton to the U.S. House of Representatives, and help restore to our nation a Congress that will actually protectand defend the Constitution.
