U.S. SOLDIER OFFERED MILITARY WEAPONS TO AGENTS POSING AS LOS ZETAS CARTEL
U.S. Army soldier Kevin Corley, 29, has been indicted for involvement in a crime ring that allegedly offered drug dealing, murder-for-hire services, military weapons, and combat training to U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) agents who were posing as members of Los Zetas, one of Mexico’s most violent drug cartels. The complaint filed against Corley, says he “thoroughly explained military tactics and told undercover agents he could train 40 cartel members in two weeks.” Additionally, the complaint reveals that Kevin Corley “offered to purchase weapons for the cartel under his name as long as he could destroy serial numbers.” Corley allegedly also explained that weapons could be easily stolen from military posts and that the rifles would fire faster if the sear pins were removed.
Kevin Corley even proposed a $50,000 fee for a contract killing and the retrieval of 20 kilograms of cocaine.
Corley was discharged on March 13 after serving in Afghanistan following the DEA’s investigation that began in January 2011. Samuel Walker, an active-duty officer, was arrested for his involvement on March 24. Both Corley and Walker are from Colorado Springs, CO.
