POLITICAL DIGEST 03/22/;2012 CONSERVATIVE

Information on my six books

Request for PDF of Collapse from Germany
Thank you for sharing your ideas on your blog. I agree with you on the most issues – they are same for Germany, the country I live in. BTW, did you hear about Thilo Sarazin? He is like you are, not afraid to share his ideas against the mainstream left wing “Liberals”. I wonder if it was already translated to English, but if you Google “Thilo Sarazin” you will get an idea whom I am talking about. Wish you the best. Leo

Important: Mitt Romney wins Illinois GOP primary
Excerpt: Mitt Romney got a much-needed victory in Illinois on Tuesday night, giving his presidential campaign a boost and strengthening the argument that he is the inevitable GOP nominee. Rick Santorum tried to downplay expectations in the days leading up to the vote, but since the Iowa caucus, the former Pennsylvania senator has yet to take out Romney in a state where they are both considered competitive. With 99 percent of the precincts reporting, Romney had 47 percent of the vote to Santorum’s 35 percent. (Though he was far from my first choice a year ago, it is now clear to all but the willfully obtuse that, barring some dramatic development, Mitt Romney will be the Republican nominee. I’m doubtful that he can do what is necessary to turn us back from the brink, but Obama has the accelerator floored. Those who go on attacking Romney now are aiding Obama, thus advancing the Collapse of the Republic. I will do all I can to assist in the election of Mitt Romney as president. ~Bob.)

Romney exorcises demographic demons
Excerpt: Mitt Romney finally shook off some big demons in Illinois on Tuesday night — ones that have haunted him this entire race. For the first time since Rick Santorum’s surge, Romney ate into large pieces of the former Pennsylvania senator’s base and, in some cases, swallowed them whole, expanding his support among younger voters, the middle class and Tea Party backers.

Is big GOP money finally flowing to Mitt Romney?
Excerpt: In an indication the GOP establishment may be starting to coalesce behind him, major contributors to a key Republican political organization founded by political strategist Karl Rove have boosted their financial support for front-runner Mitt Romney. Wealthy donors like Bob Perry, Philip H. Geier Jr. and Jerry Perenchio collectively provided much of the $6.4 million in contributions last month to the pro-Romney "super" political action committee Restore Our Future, mostly from Perry's $3 million contribution, according to campaign records submitted Tuesday to the Federal Election Commission.

Excerpt: Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush endorsed Mitt Romney's presidential campaign on Wednesday. He is the second member of the Bush family to endorse the former Massachusetts governor. His father, former President George H.W. Bush endorsed Romney in December.

Romney Wins By Rich Galen
Excerpt: Mitt Romney won Illinois. Romney is now the nominee. Period.

Romney Adviser Says Mitt Will Change Views for the General Election ‘Like an Etch-a-Sketch’ (Updates)
Excerpt: Time for Mitt Romney to fire communications man Eric Fehrnstrom? I think it is. HOST: Is there a concern that Santorum and Gingrich might force the governor to tack so far to the right it would hurt him with moderate voters in the general election?
FEHRNSTROM: Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch A Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all over again. Fehrnstrom made the comments on CNN. It’s not hard at all to read what he is saying: Romney is adopting conservative positions that he will use to win the nomination, and then abandon them to win the general election. (Damn fool for saying what everyone knows. Candidates have the focus on their liberal or conservative views to win the party nomination, on their centrist views to win the election, because elections are decided in the center. But saying so provides ammo for opponents. ~Bob.)

Government Sponsored Luxury at Fannie Mae
If people knew that these bastards got rich off them, while destroying the wealth in their homes, there would be violence. ~Bob.

Mohammed Merah, French shooting suspect, exchanges gunfire with police in standoff
Excerpt: Elite French police units exchanged gunfire Wednesday with an Islamic militant barricaded in a Toulouse apartment who is suspected of being the gunman who methodically killed three French soldiers, three Jewish schoolchildren and a rabbi over the past eight days, Interior Minister Claude Gueant announced. The police blanketed a residential area of Toulouse, in southwestern France, and negotiated with the suspect through the early morning. Gueant, who was on site directing operations, said the man was “presumed guilty” of the killing spree and had told police negotiators that he acted to “avenge Palestinian children” and protest France’s role in the Afghanistan war. (Huh. Turns out the speculation the shooter was a neo-Nazi are apparently wrong. Seems the fellow who chased down a girl, held her while he changed guns then shot her in the head, is yet another Muslim who didn’t get the “Islam is a Religion of Peace” memo. There seem to be a hell of a lot of them. Mostly named Mohammed. ~Bob.)

Excerpt: The senior U.S. military official told the CNN contributor Fran Townsend that the French shooting suspect was stopped by Afghan forces who tried to turn him over to the U.S. military. The U.S. directed them to hand Merah to French forces since he was a citizen of their country. He was given over the French military by the Afghans and the French military decided to return him to France, according to the source.

White House Calls Executive Order ‘Standard and Routine’ After Web Eruption
Excerpt: There were numerous tweets and blogs that alleged the order threatened “martial law” while another asserted the order meant the administration was preparing to go to war with Iran. That wasn’t the case, said James Jay Carafano, director of the conservative Heritage Foundation’s Allison Center for Foreign Policy Studies. (...) “Quite honestly, it’s sad that it has taken this long to get around to this,” Carafano continued. “It means they are not paying enough attention to updating a disaster plan. (Presidential Executive orders are never “routine” or “standard.” The USA isn’t a country ruled by decree. This order, though, seems to be entirely “internal” to the Executive branch, and mostly impacts the relationships between the various departments. If it took since 2003 to revise those relationships, that is a bit unsettling. Ron P.)

Taliban commander wants Pakistan's nukes, global Islamic caliphate
They want nukes? Elect me President and they’ll get ‘em! ~Bob. Excerpt: One of the top leaders of the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan said the terror group seeks to overthrow the Pakistani government, impose sharia, or Islamic law, seize the country's nuclear weapons, and wage jihad until "the Caliphate is established across the world."

The Sad Plight of Obama’s Edsel: People don’t want to buy the Volt. By Rich Lowry
Excerpt: President Barack Obama says he wants to buy a Chevy Volt when he’s out of office in five years. If getting into a General Motors electric automobile means so much to him, he’d better hope he loses in November. What the president dubbed the “car of the future” in a visit to a Volt plant may not make it to January 2017.

Washington Post Halfway Out of the Obama Tank?
Excerpt: How the United States wound down the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were two of the most important foreign policy issues facing Barack Obama when he was inaugurated. Now a newspaper that supported him questions his approach to both, something it was concerned about even before the election. President Obama was the one who elevated the importance of the peace process, which is now dormant, in part due to his own miscues.

Worth Reading: Pelosi's Daughter Enrages Left with Welfare Video
Excerpt: The people Pelosi interviewed at a welfare office on New York City’s 14th Street, admit they don’t want a job, and support President Barack Obama “because he gives me stuff,” and “because he’s black.” One man smokes and drinks Budweiser through a straw as he stands on line. He laughs as he admits to having five children by four different mothers. He tells Pelosi, “I’m here to get a check … whatever they’ve got to offer, it’s not like they’ve got a checklist … I’m just here to get what I can get.”

Mogahed Questions Assad's Anti-Israel Bonafides
Excerpt: Dalia Mogahed, a Muslim adviser to President Obama, is under fire for tweets suggesting that Syrian President Bashar Assad is insufficiently hostile to Israel. The website Jihadwatch reported that on March 10, Mogahed, who serves in the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, tweeted: "To those siding w/Assad: he cannot deliver stability, protection of minorities, or resistance to Israel. He is a killer w/o legitimacy." Jihadwatch opined that, given Assad's record of supporting terrorism and fomenting hatred against Israel, it was disturbing that Mogahed regarded Assad as being "not hostile enough."

Excerpt: Today’s Myth Buster is brought to you by 215 economists headed by Douglas Holtz-Eakin, former CBO director and currently with the American Action Forum. These economists have filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in connection with its consideration of the Affordable Care Act, known familiarly as ObamaCare. In the course of writing the brief, these folks bust a number of long-standing liberal myths that are built into any discussion of health care, including the ideas that: Health care is different than other market segments and so is exempt from the rules that apply to other markets. Because health care is so unique, allowing extraordinary federal interference will have no precedent for other markets. There are no non-consumers of health care services, so each and every resident is “active” in the health care market. Failure to be insured means that people impose large costs on the more responsible members of society. Each of these ideas (myths) is not just refuted but demolished — and long overdue. Let’s take them one at a time.

Many Dems haven’t paid dues to assist efforts to retake House
Excerpt: Many senior House Democrats have not paid what they owe their party as part of its effort to win back control of the lower chamber, according to records obtained by The Hill. Instead of fulfilling their financial obligation to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, these lawmakers are stockpiling their campaign cash. 9well, Democrats don’t pay their taxes, why expect them to pay party dues? ~Bob.)

House Republicans push for military buildup with focus on countering Iran
Excerpt: Top Republicans on the House Armed Services Committee are looking to ensure the Pentagon is ready for military action against Iran and will use the upcoming fiscal 2013 budget to do it. Committee Chairman Buck McKeon (R-Calif.) is spearheading an effort to pump defense dollars into a specific slate of weapons and programs that could be used in a potential conflict with Tehran. (Four more years of Obama and the military will consist of unicorn-mounted lancers, a Volt tank division, and a few infantry armed with solar-powered rifles. ~Bob.)

Who Will Be Able to Afford Health Insurance in the Future?
Excerpt: For more than a decade, the rate of growth of health care premiums has far exceeded the growth of average American household incomes. Given these trends, projections regarding the portion of a household's income that is consumed by health care expenses inevitably predict increases over the course of the next few decades, say Richard A. Young, a doctor in Fort Worth, Texas, and Jennifer E. DeVoe of the Oregon Health Science University. From 2000 to 2009, the average annual increase in insurance premiums was 8.0 percent while household incomes rose an average of only 2.1 percent annually. Though the rate of increase for premiums slowed during the second half of the last decade, household incomes dipped sharply during the recession. If health insurance premiums and national wages continue to grow at recent rates, the average cost of a family health insurance premium will equal 50 percent of the household income by the year 2021; it will surpass household income by 2033. If out-of-pocket expenses are also included, these benchmarks move forward to 2018 and 2030, respectively.

Excerpt: March 19, 2012, 9:49amA decade ago, if the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) wanted to make realistic cuts to climate-changing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions they should have thought about pumping water, sand, and chemicals into deep, mile-wide wells to blast open supplies of oil and natural gas. The process, known as “fracking,” has had a direct impact on CO2 reductions in the U.S., according to a study in the Environmental Science & Technology Journal. Advances in natural gas production have allowed drillers to produce eight-times the amount of gas from each well, causing prices to plummet. Low natural gas prices have incentivized electric utilities to switch from dirtier coal to cleaner-burning gas. (Well, as Nancy Pelosi said, we need to get people to switch to clean natural gas from fossil fuels. And her supporters said George Bush was dumb. ~Bob.)

Worth Reading: Europe’s Real Crisis: The Continent’s problems are as much demographic as financial. They won’t go away soon. By Megan McArdle
Excerpt: Consider Italy. It is no exaggeration to say that the fate of Italy is the fate of the euro zone: if Italy can keep its debt under control and its banking system solvent, the euro zone will probably make it; if Italy defaults, the resulting panic will probably force Portugal, Ireland, Greece, and Spain to follow suit. This linchpin is under a great deal of strain. Italy’s public debt stands at $2.3 trillion, roughly 20 percent larger than the country’s GDP. (Obama and company think Europe is our future. The rest of us are scared witless he is right. ~Bob.)

Comment from a contributor
Many Republicans keep reflexively defending moves by government to promote big business, as if business needed anything but a hands-off policy so they can go back to work and put US back to work! What these folks miss, over and over again, despite all the warnings, the evidence, and the deepening crisis of crony capitalism, is that instead of tax incentives for big business or government promoting big business, or the Fed massaging interest rates and printing money or bailing out irresponsible banks, ours is a crisis of freedom. Freedom for business to develop without "help" for business or the market. Ever since Bush Jr, there has been a huge increase in our big business-big government partnership, and both parties jumped in to support this unsavory mix. The system we now have before us is not free market capitalism, as so many blind souls think, but in fact poison to the free market. Call it crony capitalism, fascism, corporatism or whatever you want, but PLEASE stop calling it free market capitalism. Even China, for gosh sake, is closer to free market principles than fascist America. Good patriots need to join together to fight this. Two articles (below) that randomly crossed my desk today illustrate this perfectly. –Don Hank.

The Vampire Economy and the Market
Excerpt: What is sometimes referred to as "authoritarian capitalism," or fascism, is in fact a variety of statism, specifically socialism, the system of political economy in which the prerogatives of ownership over the means of production and distribution are vested in the state. Under the fascist economic system, private capitalists are nominally regarded as the owners of the means of production, meaning that they hold property titles to these assets and are referred to as "owners" of these assets. However, this so-called ownership is merely illusory. The actual prerogatives of ownership are vested, not in the private capitalist, but in the state and its bureaucracy.

Excerpt: Here is something you won't hear during this summer's presidential debates. It's called pay-to-delay... and it's costing American taxpayers tens of billions of dollars. It is collusion at its worst. It is proof Washington's idea of "healthcare reform" is merely a topical ointment meant to keep the sheep (i.e. the American voter) numb to the truth. But the truth is the nation's top drugmakers have created a scheme that keeps prices artificially high and profits even higher. Here's how it works.

Quotes from The Patriot Post
"Count it the greatest sin to prefer life to honor, and for the sake of living lose what makes life worth living." --Roman poet Decimus Juvenal (c. 1st - 2nd century)

"Democracy means that anyone can grow up to be president, and anyone who doesn't grow up can be vice president." --American comedian Johnny Carson (1925-2005)

"No pecuniary consideration is more urgent, than the regular redemption and discharge of the public debt: on none can delay be more injurious, or an economy of time more valuable." --George Washington

Tact and tolerance: "[The Republicans have] got three RCs, or two RCs -- two Roman Catholics -- running and a Mormon, so three cultists running, and they gotta pick one of the three cultists, as they see them." --MSNBC's Chris Matthews

A Safer Society With Guns By Jeff Jacoby
Excerpt: While the University of Colorado spent much of the past decade resisting the state's concealed-carry law, Colorado State University complied with it. If the gun controllers are right, Colorado State should have seen a surge in crime, while its gun-banning sister institution should have been an Eden of security and lawfulness. That's not what happened. As Clayton E. Cramer and David Burnett write in a new monograph for the Cato Institute, "crime at the University of Colorado has risen 35 percent since 2004, while crime at Colorado State University has dropped 60 percent in the same time frame."

Obama Faces 'The Crunch' By Ken Blackwell
Excerpt: It was Winston Churchill who first used that term, "the crunch" in that way. It means, of course, that crisis when a leader has to make a judgment. It is when lives, perhaps millions of them, hang on the outcome of the decision the leader makes.

What Is Fair? By John Stossel
Excerpt: The idea that government can "make life fair" is intuitively appealing to people -- at least until they think about it. I'll try to help. Obama says fairness requires higher taxes, but as The Wall Street Journal's Stephen Moore asks, "Is it fair that the richest 10 percent of Americans shoulder a higher share of their country's income-tax burden than do the richest 10 percent in every other industrialized nation, including socialist Sweden?" Or as economist Art Laffer asked, is it fair that American corporations pay the highest corporate tax rate in the world?

Suzanne Collins' "The Hunger Games" Illustrates the Horrors of Big Government By John Tamny
Excerpt: It’s said about The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins’ blockbuster novel that will be released in movie form this Friday, that it appeals to a broad demographic ranging from teens to senior citizens. If so, it’s fair to assume that a not insignificant portion of the book’s devotees see a political message within. Cue up the hateful comments, but my libertarian instincts tell me the novel is a boisterous comment about the certain horrors of big government.

‘SexTrafficking.com’ Enslaved girls for sale on Village Voice Media site
Excerpt: Right here in the United States is a media company — Village Voice Media, the parent of New York’s own Village Voice — that has of late achieved notoriety for its role in facilitating sex slavery. VVM’s online advertising arm, Backpage.com, has been under fire from law enforcement, clergy and anti-sex-trafficking groups for its role in assisting pimps who’ve kidnapped women and girls to sell for rape. According to the advertising consultancy AIM Group, Village Voice Media is responsible for about70 percent of online-prostitution advertising, earning it a cool $24 million a year. (The Left’s War on Women. ~Bob.)

Conviction: This Decade's Most Important Film By Dan Gifford
Excerpt: That practice is the widespread faking of evidence, according to studies on the subject, by both police and prosecutors against people known to be innocent in order to look tough on crime for their own career advancement.

Dire finances leave Detroit stalled: Mayor Bing resists proposed emergency takeover by the state
Excerpt: Despite assurances from Clint Eastwood and Eminem, Detroit's rebirth may be on hold, as the city is on a Greece-like track to run out of money before summer, and things are getting increasingly testy between the state's Republican governor and the city's Democratic mayor. Although the automotive sector and some other parts of the city's business picture have bounced back in recent years, Detroit city government finances are still on an unsustainable course, and the city does not have a viable fiscal plan to avoid running out of money in May. (Detroit mayor paraphrased: Don't tell Detroit how to manage itself responsibly, just send money so we can squander more! --Don Hank. I’ve long thought Detroit would likely be the first domino as the collapse got rolling. ~Bob.)

The Employee Rights Act Empowers Workers
Abstract: Labor unions should serve the interest of employees—not the other way around, as often happens. Legislation introduced in Congress would go a long way toward making this a reality. The Employee Rights Act guarantees workers a private, informed, uncoerced vote on unionizing. The bill also enables employees to re-elect (or unelect) their bargaining representatives every three years. The Employee Rights Act further protects workers from union pressure and extortion. It requires unions to obtain workers’ permission before spending their dues on matters unrelated to collective bargaining. It also gives employees the right to vote on accepting a contract or before going on strike. These reforms would shift the balance of power in the workplace from unions to workers.

Iranian-backed terrorists pose threat to U.S. southern border
Excerpt: Southern Command’s chief, Air ForceGen. Douglas Fraser, recently briefed the Senate Armed Services Committee on the growing threat of Iranian-backed terror networks in South America. His insight contradicts Director of National Intelligence James Clapper’s most recent national threat assessment, which failed to mention anything about Iranian proxies. Is the growing Iranian-South American alliance threat truly new or was this briefing intended to secure SOUTHCOM’s budget?

Excerpt: It's not unreasonable to ask how valuable the variously labeled liberal, Democratic or progressive agenda has been to black Americans and whether blacks should proceed in political lock step with this agenda. According to an American Community Survey, by the U.S. Census Bureau, the top 10 poorest cities with populations more than 250,000 are Detroit, with 33 percent of its residents below the poverty line; … The most common characteristic of these cities is that for decades, all of them have been run by Democratic and presumably liberal administrations.

Mexico for Spring Break
Excerpt: It’s not actually about the First Daughter, per se, who according to serially vanishing stories has been vacationing with a group of friends in Mexico — a country for which the State Department just last month issued a new warning to all U.S. travelers. It’s about the judgment of the White House, which apparently deems there is “no vital news interest” to this story. How so? (If the Obama girls on vacation cannot be covered for security reasons, Obama can go on vacation with them whenever he wants, anywhere he wants, at our expense, and we have no right to know about it. ~Bob.)

De Niro apologizes to GOP candidates' wives
Excerpt: Robert De Niro says he meant no offense when he joked at a presidential fundraiser featuring Michelle Obama that America might not be ready for a white first lady. The film actor said in a statement that he was speaking "with satirical jest" at the event Monday night in New York. De Niro says his remarks "were not meant to offend or embarrass anyone -- especially the first lady. "The joke drew a complaint from Newt Gingrich, who said the racial reference to the Republican candidates' wives was "inexcusable" and demanded an apology from President Barack Obama.

'Libyans held journos after confusing Welsh, Hebrew'
Excerpt: Two journalists from the UK were snatched by a Libyan militia after members of the group mistook the Welsh language for Hebrew, the BBC reported on Tuesday. Gareth Montgomery-Johnson and Nicholas Davies-Jones were taken in Tripoli last month, after the Misrata Brigade accused them of being Israeli spies. (Who knew the Welsh were the lost tribe of Israel? ~Bob.)

As Egypt's parliament dubs Israel its "number one enemy," Obama resumes military aid to Egypt
Excerpt: Egypt’s parliament, which is dominated by two pro-Sharia Islamic supremacist groups, the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafists, voted unanimously last Monday to expel Israel’s ambassador to Egypt, and signaled that the Camp David Accords would soon be a thing of the past: Egypt, the parliamentarians declared, would “never” be Israel’s ally. In fact, Israel was Egypt’s “number one enemy.” And how did Barack Obama respond to this egregious trampling upon the agreement that has kept an uneasy peace between Israel and Egypt for thirty years? By announcing a resumption of military aid to Egypt.

'Honour' violence is acceptable, say one in five young British Asians
“Asians” is the term used by media types too frightened to say “Muslims.” This is part of the real “War on Women” that feminists dare not mention. ~Bob. Excerpt: A large number of young British Asians support violence against women who 'dishonour' their families, a Panorama investigation will claim today. The hard-hitting BBC documentary reveals more than two thirds of Asians between the ages of 16 and 34 say communities should live according to 'honour' or 'izzat'. Research carried out for the show found nearly one in five – 18 per cent – said certain acts thought to shame families were justification for violence.

Petrol-bomb attack on religious group
Excerpt: A petrol-bomb attack on a community centre has prompted fears among Melbourne’s Alevi population they could be targeted with more violence on religious grounds. … Surmeli Aydogan, the council’s community liaison officer, said the centre’s users were also concerned to find notes pinned to the fence threatening Alevis on religious grounds unless they "testified" that Allah was the only god to be worshipped. (Didn’t get the memo. ~Bob.)

The Mullahs in the Americas
Excerpt: Not only has the Chávez regime given Iran a massive amount of low-cost gasoline — Venezuela’s state-run oil company PDVSA was sanctioned for these gasoline sales by the U.S. Treasury Department last May — Tehran has also used the Venezuelan financial system as a means of evading sanctions. In 2008, an Iranian bank and its Venezuelan subsidiary were sanctioned by Treasury for their ties to Iranian military forces. If we are to believe a secret 2009 Israeli foreign-ministry report obtained by the Associated Press, Venezuela has even provided Iran with uranium. (For that matter, we should note that Ecuador is another country with large uranium deposits and close strategic relations with Tehran.) (This is a pretty good summary of the known Iranian connections in Central and South America. The ability to cause trouble from the south may be a large factor the Iranians are counting on, if military action against the USA should ever look desirable to them. In every confrontation over the past few years, the Iranians have appeared more and more confident that they would be able to achieve their goals, regardless of what the USA—or anyone else—thinks or desires. Ron P.)

Obama to visit DMZ, raise pressure on North Korea
Excerpt: President Barack Obama, seeking to increase pressure on North Korea to abandon its atomic weapons, will visit the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on South Korea's tense border on Sunday before a nuclear security summit in Seoul. Obama's visit to the border will be a strong show of support for South Korea, the White House said on Tuesday, sending a message to the North as Washington builds an international effort to get stalled nuclear disarmament talks back on track. North Korea will not attend the summit, where Obama will meet with Chinese President Hu Jintao and urge him to use Beijing's long-standing influence with Pyongyang, where leadership has recently passed to Kim Jong-un. (Wasn’t there a horror movie some years ago where the kid who wasn’t invited to the party burned the house down on the attendees? Ron P.)

Tell Kagan to recuse herself on Obamacare
Internet petitions are usually not worth the paper they are printed on, and may be used to collect e-mails and other info for marketing. But I signed anyway. ~Bob.

Democrat fund raising e-mail
You might not know this, but Democrats only need to win 25 seats to end Speaker Boehner and Republican Leader Cantor’s reign in the Majority. You also may not know that the path to a Democratic Majority for President Obama goes straight through Illinois. This morning, I had the pleasure of announcing that we’re adding 5 Democratic candidates from Illinois to our "Red-to-Blue" program. Now, we need to make sure these candidates have the resources to go toe-to-toe with the Koch Brothers’ and Karl Rove’s Super PAC money. (I’m on too many lists! ~Bob.)

Keystone XL Pipeline: Obama May Expedite Approval Of Southern Half
Excerpt: President Barack Obama's visit to Cushing, Okla. on Thursday may cause quite a stir among environmental activists fighting the Keystone XL pipeline. According to CNN, Obama will announce plans to fast-track the permit for the southern half of the pipeline. A source familiar with his upcoming speech told the news organization that the administration has the ability to cut several months off the permit process, which could otherwise take over a year. Senior administration officials would not confirm Obama's plans to CNN. (I’m surprised at the ineptness of this move. First, Obama knuckles under to his enviro-nazi base, then appears to back away when it becomes clear we can beat him over the head with the issue. Next, he says “go ahead” with the southern half of the project, apparently hoping this will spur employment and help lower gasoline prices—but drives his base nearly insane with rage. YES! Confusion to our enemies! Ron P. Panicked by high gas prices because he slammed Bush on them. ~Bob.)

Thought your Monday was bad? Suck it up!
Excerpt: Thought your Monday was bad? Check out these gunfighters as you catch a glimpse of their day. Despite being shot at, blown up and in the fight, these warriors in out posts don’t have running water, haven’t seen their families in months and are damn proud to stand tall and keep the enemy at bay.

The heavy cost of a non-problem
Excerpt: CO2 mitigation strategies that are inexpensive enough to be affordable will be ineffective; strategies costly enough to be effective will be unaffordable. Focused adaptation to any adverse consequences of any warming that may occur is many times more cost-effective. Since the premium greatly exceeds the cost of the risk, don’t insure. Every red cent spent now on trying to stop global warming is a red cent wasted. Don’t mitigate: sit back, enjoy the sunshine, and adapt only if and when and to the extent necessary. That, however unfashionable, is the economically prudent and scientifically sensible course.

Chicago PD Vows to Curb Rampant Gang Violence: In one weekend, gangs responsible for nearly 37 shootings and 9 deaths
Excerpt: Responding to a bloodbath of violence over the weekend, Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said Monday that he's seeing an "uptick" in gang conflicts - and will soon provide beat cops with better information about gangs to stop retaliatory shootings. Gangs were responsible for almost all of the 37 shootings and nine murders from Friday through Sunday, McCarthy said. When he took over as superintendent almost a year ago, gangs represented about half the firearm violence, but now they're to blame for more than 80 percent of it, McCarthy said. (How about letting honest citizens go armed to defend themselves? No? ~Bob.)

UNRWA: The Palestinians' Worst Enemy by Mudar Zahran
Excerpt: UNRWA is not there to settle the refugees, it is there not to settle the refugees. The UN now counts as "refugees" entire generations, furious that their ancestors started a war that they then lost, and are now asking to be rewarded diplomatically with what they were unable to seize militarily.

Worth Reading. Islam: The Eighth Wonder of the World? by Ahmad al-Baghdadi
Excerpt: As we know, the wonders of the world are seven; but there is an eighth "wonder -of-wonders" not counted among the seven: this is the "Muslim nation [umma]." I specifically did not say the "Islamic nation," for within this Muslim nation are wondrous matters not witnessed by any other nation since Allah Almighty created Adam. Here are some of these wonders: … Written by the late Dr. Ahmad al-Baghdadi (died 2010)—one of Kuwait's best known liberal activists and scholars (he held a PhD in the philosophy of Islamic thought and taught political science)—it recounts how Islamic civilization is the eighth, and greatest, wonder of the world.

The Fourth Trimester Abortion?
Excerpt: While political liberals are busy advancing the fiction of a conservative “war on contraception,” their counterparts in academia are promoting a lie at the opposite end of the reproductive continuum. The anti-life crowd is giving new life to arguments for infanticide. In a much-discussed recent article in the Journal of Medical Ethics, Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva take the “pro-choice”[pro-death] argument to its logical and loathsome end. (The opening gun in the push for “full birth abortion.” Granny is next. Or Gramps. Hey, wait, I’m Gramps! ~Bob.)

President Obama’s Top Five Energy Whoppers
Excerpt: With both President Obama and his chief strategist David Axelrod attacking Newt’s $2.50 gas plan this weekend, it is worthwhile to take a look at who is really trying to sell the American people “snake oil.” President Obama has been traveling the country making demonstrably false excuses for his failures on energy policy. To borrow a line from White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, “I won’t attribute motivations…I’ll just say that anybody who says these things doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

Medal of Honor recipient dies at 79
Excerpt: Charette enlisted in the Navy in 1951 and joined Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, which left for Korea in February 1953. It was March 27, 1953, during the Chinese attack on Marine outpost Vegas when Charette threw himself over his patient during a grenade attack, absorbing the blast with his own body, according to the Military Times Hall of Valor.

Planned Parenthood’s Founder Quote
Margaret Sanger - “We do not want word to get out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the (Planned Parenthood- trained black) minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.” Letter to Dr. Clarence J. Gamble 12/10/39. (I have not verified this quote, but it seems to fit with her published statements. ~Bob.)

A Gasoline Nightmare By Victor Davis Hanson
Excerpt: Obama is barnstorming the west — blasting oil companies, trying to convince voters that he supports an “all of the above” policy, and reminding them that drilling has increased since his tenure. But that won’t work for five reasons.
