GASOLINE PRICES CONTINUE TO CLIMB AS OBAMA LAUGHS

OBAMA WOULD RATHER CREATE JOBS IN SAUDI ARABIA THAN HERE

In the wake of rising oil prices, many politicians are trying to figure out what can be done to curb the pain at the pump.

President Obama's solution is to bow down to Saudi leaders and send jobs to them.

We believe in American jobs, American energy and American Independence.

Conservatives have been calling for more drilling and oil production on federal lands, which is down 40% since President Obama took office. This would not only increase our supply of oil and lower prices, but it would also create hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs for Americans.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, on the other hand, thinks it would be better for those jobs to be created in Saudi Arabia.

Last week, Sen. Schumer urged Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to press Saudi officials to expand oil production. Saudi Arabia is currently producing below their capacity of 12.5 million barrels per day.

This is an absurd call for several reasons. One, we could create jobs and increase the supply of oil by tapping into our own vast resources. Why should Saudi Arabia benefit from increased oil production while 12 million Americans are out of work?

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-KY) office released a statement headlined:

"Top Democrat Senator Demands Increased Energy Production, Jobs In Saudi Arabia Rather Than Increasing American Energy And American Jobs."

And he's right. It's absurd that Democrats would demand another country to increase its oil production, while blocking oil production right here at home that would create jobs, lower gas prices, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

If the Obama administration is so committed to reducing our dependence on foreign oil AND creating jobs, why wouldn't they increase oil production and allow Americans to go to work?

The unemployment rate in North Dakota is 3.3% and falling.

That's because of increased oil and gas exploration in that state and the ripple effect those jobs have on the economy. The more people with good-paying jobs, the more disposable income they have, the more they spend at local businesses and the more those businesses have to hire.

Actual jobs lead to a better economy, not government handouts.

Across America, there are untapped oil reserves. President Obama likes to claim we only have 2% of the world's oil. This is blatantly untrue.

The United States has access to more oil than the rest of the non-North American world combined.

So yes, Mr. President, more drilling could solve our problem.

But instead of tapping our vast oil capabilities or approving the Keystone XL pipeline, President Obama has chosen to not only lie to the American people but also to double down on expensive and inefficient "green" energy alternatives. We need to spread the message that what President Obama is saying about our oil supply is untrue. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) summed up President Obama's and the Democrats' energy policy as follows:

"Rather than approve the Keystone pipeline, the Democrats' energy plan now calls for the most powerful nation in the free world to politely ask other countries for more oil and cross our fingers."

President Obama has claimed he wants to follow an "all of the above" strategy for helping to lower gas prices. Unfortunately, his "all of the above" strategy does not actually include increased oil production.

In his State of the Union address, the President claimed that he would open 75% of America's potential offshore oil and gas resources to exploration. But if his past policies of delaying and blocking offshore oil production are any indication, we know that this will be just another broken promise.

In his energy speech last week, President Obama said that increased drilling wouldn't lower gas prices. This is also false. Increased oil production leads to an increased supply of oil which will lower prices. Sen. Schumer understands this, that's why he's calling for more production from Saudi Arabia.

President Obama understands this too, that's why he's considering, again, tapping our Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to lower prices. What would be smarter, and less costly to taxpayers, would be to actually allow increased oil and gas production here in America!

President Obama and the left know that an increase in oil production will lower gas prices, but then they would lose their favored bogeyman: oil companies.

Unfortunately for the American people, winning elections based on blaming other people for their own failures is more important to Barack Obama and his party than getting Americans back to work and lowering the price of gas - which is exactly why we need to set the record straight.

Why should Saudi Arabia get new jobs instead of the American People? Please Fax every Congressman now and tell them that Americans deserve good-paying jobs, lower gas prices and a reduction in our dependence on foreign oil.

P.S. Americans aren't buying Barack Obama's claims that he can't do anything about the price of oil. While the media might look the other way, WE know that increasing the supply will reduce the price. It's time the President and his Party start putting AMERICANS first.
