Unveiled Thursday night, the Stimulus II, as it will soon be known, is nothing more than a rehash of the same failed ideas of the first stimulus, and we all know how that bill has left the country. There is nothing new here:
- $175 billion - An extension of the payroll tax credit from this year with an
additional cut - $70 billion - A payroll tax cut for employers
- $62 billion - An extension of unemployment benefits for another year
- $50 billion - More supposed "shovel-ready" infrastructure spending
- $10 billion - An infrastructure bank (aka government handouts for road
construction)
For a grand total of $367 billion.
The other $83 billion is supposed to come from incentivizing small business hiring, including a tax credit for businesses which hire the unemployed.
This is all money we don't have. Obama claims that this is all paid for, or will be paid for in the future. How? Gee, I wonder, can you say tax hikes!
This is exactly what we've been warning about when it comes to liberal austerity. Their plans to tax working Americans is just so they can spend more. This $450 billion? Savings from fiscal austerity.
There's no deficit reduction plan, this is a deficit-neutral plan, which means that all the money that conservatives have been fighting to save is just being spent again.
And for what?
Temporary make-work construction jobs for Obama's union pals and government handouts that are going to disappear faster than Obama can propose more spending.
This is nothing more the same Keynesian theories being tried again. What's the definition of insanity? It's trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

With unemployment still at 9.1% and hundreds of thousands of people losing their jobs each month, with millions more unemployed for 6 months or longer, how can Barack Obama sleep at night?
And this isn't just bad for Obama, it's bad for you.
With fewer people each month paying taxes, and Obama's belief that lack of tax revenue is based on the tax rates, and he has found new, creative ways to take and spend more of your money.

Where were the new ideas? Obama said there would be more to this speech than the same old things he's been calling for since 2009: free trade agreements, patent reform, payroll tax cut extension, an infrastructure bank and an extension of jobless benefits. Yet that is all we heard.
Patent reform won't create jobs (except for the liberal lawyers who will sue every inventor in order to relitigate every single current patent), and neither will the payroll tax cut or the jobless benefits. The payroll tax cut puts just a few dollars into people's pockets each paycheck, hardly noticeable and definitely not stimulating. Now if the payroll tax cut were on the employer side as well, then businesses wouldn't have to pay so much per employee and those savings add up so that the company would have more money to hire.
Extending the unemployment checks does not promote finding a job, in fact just the opposite.
Free trade agreements WILL create jobs and don't cost anything to implement. Unfortunately, Obama just can't do anything that will promote hiring unless there is SOME government spending involved, so he has attached to the trade agreements an extension of a costly unemployment program that benefits about 1% of the unemployed.
And this infrastructure bank is just code for giving company's taxpayer dollars to create temporary jobs for Obama's union buddies.
NOW, if Obama truly cares about getting Americans back to work (hint, he doesn't) then he would want to implement job growth ideas that don't rely on government spending. Like, tax reform that cuts out loopholes and subsidies but lowers rates so that companies are more competitive globally. Removing much of the regulatory burden from business will help too (like repealing Obamacare and Dodd-Frank, which add thousands of new regulations to businesses both large and small). Opening up domestic oil production would create HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF JOBS. In fact, if the permit process returned to the speed it was in 2008, over 200,000 jobs would be created.
These are all FREE ideas that don't cost taxpayer dollars. And they create LASTING jobs for MILLIONS of Americans, not just the thousands of temporary union construction jobs Obama favors.

They're braving the unbelievable heat for the chance to meet 90 employers. Sounds good right?
Wrong.
These jobs fairs are nothing more than smoke and mirrors to make it seem as though Washington politicians care about the unemployed. The fairs RE set up using YOUR tax dollars and are incredibly expensive. All this, and very few jobs are created afterwards.
But this has been Obama's plan all along. He doesn't care that millions of people are out of work, he just wants to raise taxes so he can spend it. So he'll spend money on these jobs fairs which only create a few jobs and claim that more and more spending is needed to continue the process.
"I believe the recent lack of leadership in Washington is a contributing factor to the overall lack of confidence in the economy," said Mark Butler, Georgia's labor commissioner. "Due to this lack of confidence, we are seeing a business community that is hesitant to make further investments in this economy."
And what does Barack Obama plan to do about this?
His real jobs plan is to raise taxes. Sure he described a plan that has a lot of good-sounding ideas sprinkled in, but he won't let those be voted on separately, oh no. He wants everything in one package so that he can blackmail conservatives into voting for higher taxes. His plan of course includes tax hikes, since that's all he cares about, and in order for the nice-sounding ideas to be passed, conservatives will have to swallow the tax hikes, and Obama will look like a leader.

If Barack Obama truly cared about this country and getting ALL Americans back to work, then he would look for ways for the private sector to create jobs, instead of taking money from the private sector in order to create union jobs.
Unfortunately for America, Obama just doesn't get it.
We need real ideas on how to grow the economy, not government!
We need businesses to hire, not be taxed.
We need leadership, not speeches.
