UNMANNED TOLL BRIDGE TO MEXICO? ARE THEY NUTS?

PLAN APPROVED FOR UNMANNED TOLLS ON SOUTHERN BORDER

The El Paso City Council voted unanimously to spend more than $1.7 million to upgrade the technology used to collect tolls at two international bridges opening the door for the first unmanned lanes on the southern border.

The electronic kiosks could be installed as early as this December and will accept Mexican currency as well as U.S. currency.  Kiosk installation will cost taxpayers an estimated $200,000 not including the interest paid back on the project loan over the next 10 or 15 years.
