Patriot,
With vast differences in starting viewpoints on how to
resolve the debt ceiling crisis, Vice President Joe Biden
announced today that the first meeting of the bipartisan
Congressional group formed to address the ongoing debt
ceiling debate was a "good, productive first meeting."
The debt ceiling debate in Congress is over
whether or not to raise the debt ceiling --
and if so, by how much.
The federal government is expected to reach its $14.3
trillion debt limit by mid-May, but Treasury Secretary
Timothy Geithner said his department's "extraordinary
measures" could buy more time, possibly until August.
So, somewhere in the mid-May to August timeframe,
the United States Government could start
defaulting on loans -- unless the debt
ceiling is raised. This is what the fiscal
Liberals in Congress -- and the media --
want us to believe.
Yet, the government continues to spend money it doesn't
have at unprecedented levels.
+ + This is a spending problem, not an income problem.
Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) said today,
"We will not increase the debt limit without real spending
cuts and budget reforms."
In reality, a vast majority of Americans are
fed up with out-of-control federal spending!
We are calling on Congress to NOT raise the debt ceiling.
We are calling for deep spending CUTS to bring federal
fiscal hemorrhaging down to manageable levels.
+ + The Lucky 13
Secretary Geithner, the six House members involved in the
Biden negotiations, as well as the so-called Senate "Gang
of Six," who have been meeting for months to propose a
debt ceiling solution but have yet to produce a plan,
will ALL soon be receiving the Grassfire Nation Citizen
Petition "I Oppose Raising the Debt Ceiling."
We are dubbing them the "Lucky 13."
Right now, almost 35,000 fiscal Conservatives
have signed the "I Oppose Raising the Debt
Ceiling" Petition.
The first of these strongly worded petitions will be
hand-delivered to the "Lucky 13" when we cross the 50,000
signer's benchmark, which could be in the next 48 hours,
if you, Darla, will join us in taking a bold stand.

After signing the "I Oppose Raising the Debt Ceiling"
Petition, please consider forwarding this message on
to others who are also fed up with out-of-control
government spending.
Again, this petition will be hand delivered
to the Capitol Hill offices of each of these
leaders as soon as we cross the 50,000 signers
mark.
