NEVADA - NO NEW TAXES 05/08/2011

CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY

After more than three months of political posturing, the Nevada Democrat caucus has finally provided us a look at how they plan to raise taxes on Nevadans to continue the Democrats’ runaway spending habits.  Their new tax proposal for Nevada’s businesses comes at a time when our businesses are still suffering from the poor economy.

  1. The Democrats just don’t get it.  Continuing to spend more money on inefficient and ineffective programs without finding ways to get the results we need doesn’t solve the problem.  It just protects the status quo.

While we applaud the decrease in the sales tax, the new tax on services will impact many small businesses that are barely getting by.  Additionally, not permitting the business licensing fee increase to sunset will slow new business development at a time when we need it most and when Las Vegas area leaders are trying to cut such fees to entice new businesses to come to Nevada.

We need all CCRP members and their friends to call their Assembly representatives, Senators, and the Governor’s office to let them know we oppose these new tax ideas and that it is time to get Nevada’s budget under control.

We are approaching the critical tie in the 2011 Legislative Session, when the budget debates will become the main focus.  Make your voice heard for our state’s future.
