INFLATION, HIGHER FUEL PRICES, NEW ENERGY TAXES - OBAMA'S CHANGE

Dear Conservatives,
$90 BILLION in new energy taxes! That’s a cornerstone of President Obama’s proposed federal budget. Simply put, it’s a bad proposal. New energy taxes will mean higher costs for all Americans:
  • New expenses to produce domestic fuel—which will impact businesses and consumers.
  • New expenses for American companies—but not for foreign competitors.
  • Taxation that hurts America's energy security.
U.S. public policies—including tax policies—should encourage economic growth and investment in all forms of domestic energy. Unfair taxes on energy are not a step in the right direction.

TAKE ACTION: Tell Congress to Reject New Energy Taxes!
Representative Fred Upton's (R-MI) bill—the Energy Tax Prevention Act—will be voted on this week in the House of Representatives. We need your help to pass this important piece of legislation.
At the start of the year, API released a special report—"The State of American Energy." This report describes the ways we can get our energy policy back on track. It's a great resource to help you participate in discussions about energy.
