I am writing about the situation with the public employee unions in your state. I have written a letter of support of Governor Walker in Wisconsin and want to add you to my list of elected officials who I admire and support. I urge you to continue to look to the future of your state and our nation in fighting this intrusion into the pockets of American citizens.
I have a great deal of respect for those who teach our children and keep us safe from criminals and fire dangers but there comes a time when they must see the evils perpetrated on all of us by union leadership. The great majority of American citizens realize the fiscal situation we are in and will support you and others in the battle for fiscal responsibility. Too many of these public employee union people either don’t see the problems here or refuse to acknowledge the issues facing the entire nation. I can’t for the life of me understand how they think it will end when the entire country is broke. Apparently those teaching our children don’t know enough about economics to understand. It is a sad thing when someone, like me with only a high school diploma as my educational high point, knows more about how our economy works than people who have college degrees.
I know you are now and will continue to be under a great deal of pressure from those who are so selfish and arrogant that they cannot see the forest for the trees. I urge you and you fellow conservatives in the Iowa state government to stand strong in the face of this onslaught and stick to your position of fiscal responsibility. I know what the unions are saying, I know what the media is saying, and I know the truth. Oklahoma is working on the same type of legislation and this fight will soon come to every state where intelligent economic steps are taken to rein in spending and begin to make decisions that are realistic financially.
You have my respect and my undying support for your stand, not only for Iowa, but for the entire nation. My prayers and thoughts are with you and those who stand with you. What you do in the next few weeks or months will have an incredible impact on the future of our nation. You, Governor Walker, and the others in the middle of this fight hold our future in your hands. If you cave and give in to the radicals opposing you we will all lose, including those you are fighting against. I wish they could understand what they are saying, but it is very apparent they are educated beyond their intelligence.
God Bless You and God Bless America
I submit this in the name of the Most Holy Trinity, in faith, with the responsibility given to me by Almighty God to honor His work and not let it die from neglect.
Sincerely,
Bob Russell
