Obama and the War on Oil
It's no surprise that the same man who called for "electricity prices [to] necessarily skyrocket" would allow gas prices to increase dramatically. It all goes back to his love-affair with green energy and his hatred for everything that helps America work---from energy to business. Even his energy secretary, Steven Chu hates oil. In 2008 Mr. Chu said, "we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe."

At this rate, we will achieve his goal later this year.

Since Barack Obama was inaugurated, gas prices have been steadily increasing, along with home energy bills. In 2009, the average cost of a gallon of gas was $1.85, just two years later; the average has doubled to $3.54. In just the past week prices have risen by 5 cents, and up 25 cents since two weeks ago---and up 40 cents in just the past month.

This cannot continue.

Of course, if we as Americans knew that Obama was working hard to LOWER energy prices, this wouldn't scare us.

But he's NOT. This man is too busy taxing, spending, snuggling with labor unions, ramming healthcare down our throats and attacking the business community to bother with ACTUALLY helping the American citizens. He'd rather let the price of oil rise dramatically so that he can begin "fundamentally transforming America" into a nation of pure green energy.

As energy and gas prices continue to soar, Libya continues to devolve into a massacre, and Japan continues to suffer the devastating consequences of earthquakes and tsunamis, where has our president been? Giving speeches about women's rights and stating his March Madness picks.

"The Obama Administration has consistently blocked American energy production that would lower costs and create new jobs," House Speaker John Boehner has said. "They've cancelled leases for new exploration, jeopardized new nuclear energy, and imposed a de facto drilling moratorium. They've pushed a 'cap and trade' national energy tax that the president himself admitted would cause energy costs to 'skyrocket.'"

With the recent nuclear fears in Japan, Democrats and the White House have started a classic knee-jerk reaction towards halting nuclear energy in America. What they fail to realize is that the reactor that is causing problems in Japan was built in the early 70's, with a core that was deemed unsafe and banned just a year later. None of the reactors here in America are built with it, and the 24 Nuclear plants that are waiting to be built are not being built on fault lines and can withstand natural disasters.

THERE IS NO REASON TO HALT NUCLEAR PRODUCTION.

Since Obama has been in the White House, he has overseen the worst response to an oil disaster in history. Even though it has been months since Obama finally lifted the ban on off-shore drilling in The Gulf Of Mexico, oil companies are STILL waiting for approval to begin drilling the new oil well. They can't wait any longer.

Obama claims that his administration has issues 37 new permits for drilling, HOWEVER, only one of those permits is for deepwater drilling, the rest are for shallow water (500 feet of water or less) which doesn't really help since the oil rigs that were shut down were in deep water.

This delay is not only hurting the oil companies (which employ at least 9.2 MILLION Americans), it is also hurting every vehicle owner in America. WE are the ones who are hurting and yet this administration doesn't seem to care one bit.

If you're SICK of high prices at the pump, then FAX CONGRESS and tell them we need to DRILL NOW! Tell all the Democrats, Republicans and Independents that we are tired of paying the price for government laziness and bureaucracy. The American people deserve to have their elected officials do everything possible to ensure that we have access to lower-priced oil. Every Member of Congress needs to hear from you right now... DEMAND that they ACT NOW, because American taxpayers are hurting, and we can't afford these gas prices any longer.

While President Bush was in office, the press couldn't stop asking him about rising gas prices. In 2008, Harry Reid even said that rising gas prices was "the number one issue facing America today." Today, gas prices are just about double what they were when George W. Bush left office, yet the liberal media is silent. Why?

Because they want high gas and energy prices---but for their reasons. If energy costs skyrocket because of foreign issues, that's not acceptable. Those on the left want to force energy costs to increase so that they can implement a new, green energy plan. In essence, they want the system to break so that they can rebuild it in THEIR specifications.

The progressive media can claim all they want that oil companies are just gouging, however, it would be a lot easier to make that argument if prices were high and oil companies had access to absolutely every oil resource available. BUT THEY DON'T.

John Boehner believes in an "all of the above" approach to lowering energy costs. Green energy would be a part of that approach, but because alternative energy only accounts for about 8% of our total energy usage, it would be irresponsible to force Americans to suddenly invest thousands of dollars to retrofit their homes with alternative energy sources.

Solar panels can cost anywhere from $18,000 to $75,000 and won't begin to pay for themselves for at least 20 years.

Home wind turbines cost between $35,000 and $50,000.

Hybrid cars cost on average $3500 to $6000 MORE than comparable models, and you won't save that difference in fuel for AT LEAST 15 years. (The average person only owns the same vehicle for 6 years). By the time you make up the difference the car will be obsolete.

Knowing this, it's a wonder the Obama administration is so hell-bent on forcing green energy on a nation that can't afford these one-time huge costs at this time. Maybe if the economy was doing great it wouldn't be SUCH a bad thing, but we're still picking up the pieces from the recession, millions are unemployed. We can't be expected to spend an entire year's salary on alternative energy. But we do know what COULD help with gas and energy prices.

We could, and SHOULD, be back to drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

We SHOULD be drilling off of our other coasts (since China and Russia already are).

We SHOULD be drilling in Alaska.

We SHOULD be converting shale oil from the mountains in Colorado.

But environmentalists claim that ALL these sources would damage the environment, and simply won't allow this to happen. Instead of trying to find a minimal impact solution, they simply say no. And because of this, Americans are paying the price at the pump. And Obama does nothing.

If you're SICK of high prices at the pump, then FAX CONGRESS and tell them we need to DRILL NOW! Tell all the Democrats, Republicans and Independents that we are tired of paying the price for government laziness and bureaucracy. The American people deserve to have their elected officials do everything possible to ensure that we have access to lower-priced oil. Every Member of Congress needs to hear from you right now... DEMAND that they ACT NOW, because American taxpayers are hurting, and we can't afford these gas prices any longer.

It's being said that the demand for oil is rising faster than we can find new sources to drill. THIS IS NOT TRUE. While the demand for oil is rising, we KNOW where new sources are, we just aren't allowed to tap them.

The current administration has done NOTHING to help ease Americans who are hurting in every way, including high gas prices. Since it is clear that Barack Obama doesn't care about taxpayers, it is time we MAKE him care.

Obama's only real concern is gaining control of every aspect of our lives, while doing nothing to help ease our financial burdens. Let's alert Congress and DEMAND they focus on rising prices.
