ALABAMA - We The PEOPLE Newsletter # 275

During the next 3 months, We the People-Alabama are asking our supporting members to submit ideas and suggestions for legislative initiatives that will be submitted to the Alabama Legislature for action during the next legislative session and for which the job performance of each Alabama legislator will be rated during that session, whether the initiative is acted upon or not.
During the 2014 legislative session, 4 initiatives were submitted to the Legislature for action. One was acted upon and 3 were not. The Job Performance Rating of each legislator was rated accordingly for the initiative that was voted on depending on how each legislator voted. The JPR for each legislator was “docked” accordingly for each of the 3 initiatives that were not brought up for a vote, two of which will be carried forward to the 2015 legislative session and to each session from now on until they are brought up for a vote by the people’s representatives.

WASHINGTON UPDATE 07/09/2014 (Nevada shamed by Reid!)

American Idle: Reid Competes for Most Futile Senate Ever

Being the "greatest deliberative body" in the world usually implies that you've done some deliberating. Not so for the U.S. Senate. While the Middle East, southern border, and economy implode, Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) seems perfectly content to coast along in the sea of futility. Occasionally, he'll drop anchor -- but just long enough to push a political agenda that has nothing to do with the country's priorities. Case in point: the Democrats' decision to shift into legislative overdrive on the supposed shortage of free birth control.
As real issues like national security fall by the wayside, Sen. Reid has decided to focus on his party's primary concern -- reelection. Just 14 Senate bills have been signed into law this year (nine fewer than last year), and the Majority Leader is determined to make forcing religious groups to violate their consciences one of them. The Left is fast-tracking at least three bills in response to last week's Supreme Court decision, which gave companies like Hobby Lobby the right to opt-out of health care that conflicts with their beliefs.

WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THE IRS? ARE YOU KIDDING?

IRS BEATS THE ODDS?

The odds of winning the Florida lottery are 1 in 22,957,480.

The odds of winning the Powerball is 1 in 175,223,510.
The odds of winning Mega Millions is 1 in 258,890,850.

The odds of a computer disc drive failing in any given month are roughly one in 36. The odds of two different drives failing in the same month are roughly one in 36 squared, or 1 in about 1,300. The odds of three drives failing in the same month is 36 cubed or 1 in 46,656.
The odds of seven different drives failing in the same month (like what happened at the IRS when they received a letter asking about emails targeting conservative and pro Israeli groups) is 37 to the 7th power = 1 in 78,664,164,096. (that's over 78 Billion) In other words, the odds are greater that you will win the Florida Lottery 342 times than having those seven  IRS hard drives crashing in the same month.

LIFE NEWS 07/09/2014

Democrats File Bill to “Overturn” Supreme Court Decision Protecting Hobby Lobby As promised, Senate Democrats filed legislation today to “overturn” the Supreme Court’s decision protecting Hobby Lobby and other companies from being forced to comply with the HHS mandate that compels them to pay for abortion-causing drugs for their employees.
The Supreme Court ruled that the Christian-run Hobby Lobby doesn’t have to obey the HHS mandate that is a part of Obamacare. The high court issued a favorable ruling in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., a landmark case addressing the Constitutionally guaranteed rights of business owners to operate their family companies without violating their deeply held religious convictions. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/07/09/democrats-file-bill-to-overturn-supreme-court-decision-protecting-hobby-lobby/
