Welcome to this week’s reading of the Torah portion called Shemini (Shmini or Sh’mini), which means eighth. 
The name arises from Leviticus 9:1 which on the eighth [shemini] day Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel. For seven days, Aaron and his sons stayed at the Tent of Meeting as part of their ordination process.  On the eighth day, Moses called for them to begin presenting the offerings (קָרְבֳּנוֹת, korbanot) to the Lord. Please join with us as we study the Scriptures that will be read this Shabbat (Saturday) in synagogues around the world. We know you will be blessed as you study this Torah portion with us.

SERMON - GOD'S POWER WILL PREVAIL

God’s Power Will Prevail

The hymn that I sing almost daily goes like this:

“Mighty is my God, Mighty is our King, Mighty is our Lord maker of everything.

All glory to our Lord, all glory to our King, all glory to our Lord, Ruler of everything.

His name is higher than any other name; His power is greater for He has created everything.”

When I sing this and, when the thought it conveys is considered, I often wonder just how anyone can doubt His awesome presence.
