The Corn Is Dying All Over America

All over America the corn is dying. If drought conditions persist in the middle part of the country, wheat and soybeans will be next. Weeks of intense heat combined with extraordinarily dry conditions have brought many U.S. corn farmers to the brink of total disaster. If there is not significant rainfall soon, many farmers will be financially ruined. This period of time is particularly important for corn because this is when pollination is supposed to happen. But the unprecedented heat and the extremely dry conditions are playing havoc with that process. With each passing day things get even worse. We have seen the price of a bushel of corn soar 41 percent since June 14th. That is an astounding rise. You may not eat much corn directly, but it is important to realize that corn or corn syrup is just about in everything these days. Just look at your food labels. In the United States today, approximately 75 percent of all processed foods contain corn. So a huge rise in the price of corn is going to be felt all over the supermarket. Corn is also widely used to feed livestock, and if this crisis continues we are going to see a significant rise in meat and dairy prices as well. Food prices in America have already been rising at a steady pace, and so this is definitely not welcome news.

Radiation from the Fukushima Nuclear Plant disaster in Japan is now actively in the ecosystem all along the North American west coast, even the sea weed is now radiated. The Vancouver Sun reported one year ago that the seaweed tested from waters off the coast of British Columbia were 4 times the amount considered safe. No further test results were released after the initial report.

This week Heller filed two amendments to the Small Business Jobs and Tax Relief Act (S. 2237) that would have provided tax relief for Nevadans. Expecting to extend quality health care access to millions of Americans by pressing them into the existing Medicaid system is a little like expecting to win the Indy 500 in a 1965 Chevy Corvair. It's just not the right tool for the job.

A fundamental flaw in the Obama administration's government health care plan is that Medicaid is already on the brink of failure. Dumping millions more people into the Medicaid mix will not save it, will not cut any costs and will not improve overall access to quality care.

In Texas, we have no interest in following the federal directive to expand our Medicaid ranks by more than 1 million, and we also are rejecting calls to establish a so-called "state" insurance exchange designed and ruled by federal guidelines, many of which have yet to be written. Neither of these is the proper role of the federal government and both represent brazen intrusions into the affairs of states.

ICE DIRECTOR FOLLOWING ORDER OF DER FUHRER

ICE CHIEF: AZ IMMIGRATION PROGRAM ‘NOT A GOOD USE’ OF TAX DOLLARS

CNSNews.com reports Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director John Morton announced Tuesday that the Obama administration’s recent decision to terminate its standing immigration-law enforcement agreements with Arizona was because the programs had not been “a good use of taxpayer sources” when asked about the political timing of the suspension.

Morton would have us believe that the termination of the 287(g) program partnering ICE and state and local law enforcement forces to enforce immigration laws had nothing to do with the Supreme Court’s June 25 ruling upholding Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration law even though the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) suspended its cooperation with hours of the decision!

It’s going to be an ugly campaign. We all know it and we’re ready for it, but it’s going to be the ugliest, nastiest and dirtiest campaign in history.

Why NOT take the early lead? If Romney takes this advice, it will send a clear message to the Republican establishment that conservatives aren’t going to do business as usual any more. It would shake the establishment and pull together conservative voters.

He would pull together the conservative vote.

Here is a little something else this would do… It would shake the Obama campaign to its core.

As soon as the 1,144 delegates are in hand, WHOEVER garners them either at the convention or before… put this into motion.

Rather than a leisurely march toward a VP nominee or a surprise VP announcement like we got in 2008, vet the possible VPs NOW and stand ready to announce the running mate in a nationally televised press conference the day after the delegates are in hand.
