CLARK COUNTY GOP ENGAGES

While they’re still circulating milk cartons featuring the missing Nevada Republican Party during this all-important legislative session, the Clark County GOP folks have found their voice, their issues and their email list and are now fully engaged in the battle.

Just yesterday I received two “Action Requests” – one urging support for state Sen. Elizabeth Halseth’s efforts to block efforts to make seat belt use a “primary offence” and another urging Reps. Dean Heller and Joe Heck to oppose a government take-over of the Internet by what is misleadingly called “net neutrality” legislation.  The “Action Requests” are well done, with brief summaries of the issues along with contact information for the elected officials involved.

Now if only the Nevada GOP would discover that politics is goin’ on in Carson City and stop pumping out stock RNC-written press releases about President Obama.  Obama won’t be on the ballot for another year and a half.  The Nevada Legislature, however, is going on RIGHT NOW.  Gov. Sandoval needs the party’s help RIGHT NOW.  Taxpayers and conservatives need the party’s help RIGHT NOW.

What are you waiting for, a written invitation?

LEARN TRUTH - OBAMA HAS LED DEMS ON A SPENDING SPREE THAT IS MIND-BOGGLING

Shocker! Govt Spending Topped $11 Trillion Last Year
By Terrence P. Jeffrey, CNSNews.com

If you look at the historical tables attached to President Barack Obama's latest budget proposal, they say the federal government took in $2.165 trillion in revenues in fiscal 2010 and spent $3.720 trillion, leaving a federal deficit of approximately $1.555 trillion.

This looks like a horror story, of course. Yet the true story is more horrible. To find that story, you have to look at the financial statements quietly posted by the U.S. Treasury on the website of the Financial Management Service....

OBAMA IS 'PAYING OFF' WASHINGTON TIMES AND CBS WITH TAXPAYER MONEY!

Two mainstream news organizations are receiving hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars from Obamacare’s Early Retiree Reinsurance Program (ERRP) — a $5 billion grant program that’s doling out cash to companies, states and labor unions in what the Obama administration considers an effort to pay for health insurance for early retirees. The Washington Post Company raked in $573,217 in taxpayer subsidies and CBS Corporation secured $722,388 worth of Americans’ money.
“It is fine with me if they continue covering the ObamaCare debate,” said Rep. Marsha Blackburn, Republican of Tennessee, in an e-mail to The Daily Caller. “When NBC used to cover energy issues, they identified themselves as a subsidiary of General Electric. CBS and Washington Post just have to disclose that they are subsidiaries of the Obama Administration.”

Keith Ellison D-MN-5

Congressman Keith Ellison represents the Fifth Congressional District of Minnesota in the United States House of Representatives since taking office on January 4, 2007.
The Fifth Congressional District is the most vibrant and ethnically diverse Congressional district in Minnesota with over eighty languages spoken throughout the district that includes the City of Minneapolis and several surrounding suburbs.
There could be no better fit for such a diverse district than Keith Ellison who has committed his public life to community organization and advocacy.  Keith’s adult life has been spent bringing communities together – whether it is advocating for a better business climate or giving a voice to those who deserve to be heard.  His philosophy is one of generosity and inclusiveness – because there are enough resources in our communities for everyone to prosper.
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Congressman Ellison graduated from Wayne State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.  He moved to Minnesota in 1987 to attend the University of Minnesota Law School where he earned his law degree in 1990.  He and his wife, Kim a high school math teacher, have since made Minnesota their home where they are raising their four children.

Upon completion of his Juris Doctor, Congressman Ellison practiced law from 1990 to 2006 in both the private sector and as executive director of the Legal Rights Center.  In 2004 he ran for the State Legislature from Legislative District 58B in North Minneapolis.  He became a strong advocate to protect Minnesota children from dangerous pesticides and chemicals; promoted legislation to restore the voting rights of ex-offenders; and successfully advocated for an increase to the state’s minimum wage.
When long-serving 5th District Congressman Martin Sabo announced his retirement after 28 years in Congress, Ellison jumped into the race.  He quickly established himself as a formidable candidate by winning a 1st ballot DFL party endorsement in a multi-candidate field of former and current office holders.
He was challenged in the DFL primary by six candidates, and won by ten percentage points.   Congressman Ellison won the general election with 56% of the vote in a four-way race.
Ellison serves on the House Financial Services Committee, and the House Judiciary Committee.  Both committees serve his legislative priorities well.  Mr. Ellison’s legislative priorities are promoting peace, prosperity for working families, environmental sustainability, and civil and human rights.
Ellison’s election to the Congress made both Minnesota and U.S. history.
Keith is the first African American elected to the Congress from Minnesota, as well as the first Muslim American to be elected to the U.S. Congress.

RedState Briefing 04/06/2011

RedState Morning Briefing
For April 6, 2011

Just a quick note here. Justice David Prosser is trading a ridiculously slim lead of a few thousand votes in Wisconsin against the union backed Joann Kloppenburg and, depending on which hour you are reading this, the leader could change. This race is going to a recall.

Most significantly, unions poured both their hearts and resources into defeating Justice Prosser. That the jury is out on that suggests an aggressive union push against an underfunded and understaffed effort for Justice Prosser drew even. That does not suggest unions will have much success with their recall efforts if they are at parity in a statewide race with a money and manpower advantage.

There are, this morning, many union leaders and Democrats not too thrilled by what happened last night in Wisconsin.
