NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT
Dear Friend,
Last week, I was honored as the Grand Marshal at the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch's 62nd Anniversary Celebration. I was excited to learn news of the January Jobs Report and the economic growth we are seeing under President Trump's leadership. I am also happy to share great things happening in Bay County and announce that I am hosting a U.S. Military Service Academy Day in March for students interested in attending a service academy. Please read about my week below: Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch 62nd Anniversary On Saturday, I was the Grand Marshal at the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch 62nd Anniversary Celebration in Live Oak. It was an honor to join the community to celebrate this organization that has fought tirelessly to help the youth across our state. Their dedication to our children extends beyond basic care as they provide security, guidance, and belonging. It is my responsibility in Congress to ensure that vital services to vulnerable children and families are not interrupted and I look forward to continuing to advocate for the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches. Many thanks to Bill Frye for having me join this occasion to recognize 62 years of transformative work for our youth. Bay County CEO Reception Last week the Bay County Chamber of Commerce Chairman Andrew Rowell hosted a “CEO Reception” welcoming new CEOs to the Bay County area. Congratulations to the following: Shane Boyett, Regional Manager of External Affairs for Gulf Power, Vickie Gainer, City Manager for Lynn Haven, Robert Gates, General Manager for Panama City Toyota, Rex Jordan, Sr. Vice President at Booz Allen Hamilton, Tony O’Rourke, City Manager of Panama City Beach and Brad Van Haitsma, Plant Manager at Trane. Welcome to Bay County and I look forward to working with you all! Jobs Update Since Donald Trump took office, our economy has been on a roll. Last month's job report was incredibly strong, with more than 200,000 new jobs created. I am fighting in Washington to keep this momentum moving in the right direction. Bay Economic Development Alliance (EDA) Meeting Last week, my staff attended the Bay Economic Development Alliance (EDA) meeting. Recently, the Bay County Commission approved the Center of Excellence at the airport. The Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport Authority, Bay Economic Development Alliance (Bay EDA), and Haney Technical Center are working closely with several local, state, and federal partners to establish an Aviation Center of Excellence at the Northwest Florida Beaches Airport. This Center of Excellence currently has four different components that bring together private Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRO) facilities, educational institutions, and a private aviation training provider. The establishment of this Center of Excellence will continue to strengthen the regional economy and build upon the successes of the airport over the last decade. U.S. Military Service Academy Day Announcement I am happy to announce that I am hosting a United States Military Service Academy Day for students in Florida’s Second Congressional District. Informational sessions will be held in Columbia, Leon, and Bay counties on March 7th. High school and eighth grade students who are interested in attending a service academy are invited to come, along with their parents. We have invited representatives from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, as well as the Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, and Naval Academies to attend. Students will have the opportunity to meet with Cadets, Midshipmen, and ROTC staff. The academy nomination process will be explained. This is an excellent opportunity for high school students to explore these outstanding higher education choices.

Constituent Casework CornerA constituent contacted the Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) to change the account their retirement benefits were being direct deposited into, but the constituent provided the wrong account number. After not receiving their benefits, the constituent called DFAS, was informed of the issue and provided the correct account number, however, they still were not receiving their benefits five months later and contacted my office. We were able to work with DFAS to have the error fixed and the benefits deposited into the right account.
