NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICTDear Friend, The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) does not take the Biden Administration seriously. Not only did they violate sovereign U.S. airspace, but they are also opening secret police stations worldwide. Recently, a secret CCP police station was uncovered in New York City.
This past weekend, I joined my colleagues from the China Select Committee at one of the stations to make abundantly clear to our adversaries that we will not tolerate their aggression. The Biden Administration may tiptoe around China, but the China Select Committee is determined to hold them accountable.
Our committee will ensure all law enforcement receive the training and resources to end this ugly aggression. Please read about my week below:

A Recap of My Week U.S. Military Service Academy Day
I’m hosting a United States Military Service Academy Day for students in Florida’s Second Congressional District. Informational sessions will be held in Leon and Bay counties on Saturday, March 4th, 2022. High school and eighth-grade students who are interested in attending a service academy are invited to come, along with their parents.
I have invited representatives from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, and Naval Academies to attend. Students will have the opportunity to meet with Cadets, Midshipmen, ROTC staff, and parents of current and past cadets. The academy nomination process will be explained. This is an excellent opportunity for high school students to explore these outstanding higher education choices.
No RSVP is required.
For more information, don't hesitate to get in touch with Craig Williams at FL02.Academy@mail.house.gov or call 850-785-0812.

Bay County Date: Saturday, March 4, 2023 Time: 12:00 PM-2:00 PM CT Location: Gulf Coast State College, Student Union East, Room 232, 5230 W. Hwy 98, Panama City, FL 32401
Here’s What I’m Supporting The Block Grant Assistance Act of 2023 (H.R. 662) - This bill would allow USDA to provide needed relief to agriculture producers devastated by Hurricanes Ian and Nicole via a previously successful block grant strategy. Because of a technicality in the bill language, USDA did not have the legal authority to implement block grants. Floridians who were recovering and rebuilding after natural disasters should not be penalized due to overregulation and confusing legal language.
Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act of 2023 (H.R. 277) - This bill would require every “major rule” proposed by federal agencies to be approved by Congress before going into effect. I am committed to ensuring that we are keeping appropriate checks and balances in government to guarantee government transparency and accountability.
The Improving Access to Congressional Services Act of 2023 (H.R. 562) - This bill would require the VA to allow a Member of Congress to use a facility to meet with constituents and hold office hours. Being able to work in a VA facility allows vets who need assistance, but are unable to travel to another office, the ability to have a caseworker onsite.
Updates From Agencies Service Industry Tip Reporting
Taxpayers should wait to file until they receive all their proper tax documents, or they risk making a mistake that could cause delays.
They should also review their documents carefully. If any of the information is inaccurate or missing, taxpayers should contact the payer right away for a correction or to ensure the issuer has their current mailing or email address.
Creating an IRS Online Account can help taxpayers securely access information about their federal tax account, including payments, tax records, and more.
Organized tax records make preparing a complete and accurate tax return easier and may help taxpayers find overlooked deductions or credits.

Update for Veterans Veterans can now access their disability benefit claim decision notice letters electronically on VA.gov, empowering them to see their disability decisions quickly and easily.
Before this option was available, Veterans had to wait for a paper copy of their decision notice to be mailed to them. While previous iterations of VA.gov allowed Veterans to access benefits summary letters, they could not access the full copy of these decision notification letters from their electronic claims folders.
This service became available to Veterans on VA.gov on Jan. 17. Since launching, nearly 280,000 decision notice letters have been downloaded. Read more here.

A lot of people have contacted my office about their pending passport applications. My team does everything we can to assist those who need their passports; however, you will likely face a delay in the upcoming months. Please review the information below from the Passport Agency about current processing times and tips to help you plan ahead.
What to Expect:
Mail delays are impacting when we receive passport applications for processing. Our processing times begin the day we receive your application, not the day you mail it.
Routine service can take 8-11 weeks from the day an application is submitted to the day a new passport is received.
Expedite service (for an additional $60) can take 5-7 weeks from the day an application is submitted to the day a new passport is received.
We suggest you:
Send your application to us via trackable mail, so you can track your application before it enters our system. This can be done whether applying at an acceptance facility or by mail.
Or
Pay an extra $19.53 for 1-2 day delivery for the return of your completed passport.
Planning to Travel? Apply Early! Apply at least six months before planned travel.
