More than 70 years after his death, U.S. Army Air Forces Staff Sgt. William O. Wood was laid to rest at Tallahassee National Cemetery. Wood died during World War II after his aircraft was hit and crashed during the largest bombing mission against the oil fields in Romania. A positive DNA match made the homecoming possible and his closest relatives and dozens of others attended the service to pay a final tribute to the fallen airman. Read more here. |
Connie Lauderdale and her daughter Taiquasia Pugh gave each other a hug and a kiss, to go their separate ways for their classes just down the hall from one another at Haney P. Technical College. After 18 years of working in the healthcare field, Connie said she wanted to come to Haney to advance her education. She is in the practical nursing program, and her daughter is about to finish the medical administrative specialist’s program. Read more here. |
Winning wasn’t the goal. For employees at Southern Leisure RV Resort in Chiefland, they were competing for something even bigger. The RV resort held a cardboard-box-boat-race that took place in the RV resort’s Olympic-size swimming pool. In addition to a team-building exercise, the race was also to support and help raise money for one of Southern Leisure’s most beloved charities. The Children’s Table in Bronson. Read more here. |
