Wade and Casey v. Planned Parenthood , giving elected officials in state legislatures around the country, along with the federal government, the ability to enact policies that protect the life of unborn Americans. Legislation Introduced On Wednesday, Senators Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), and I introduced the Stop Supreme Court Leakers Act . The legislation would create criminal penalties for individuals who leak confidential information from the Supreme Court of the United States, including draft opinions by Supreme Court Justices prior to publication. Read more here . On Wednesday, Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR), Josh Hawley (R-MO), James Lankford (R-OK), Steve Daines (R-MT), and I introduced the Protecting Minors from Medical Malpractice Act . The legislation would allow individuals who suffered from an irreversible and potentially sterilizing gender-transition procedure as a minor to seek justice in court. Read more here . On Thursday, Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), and I introduced the Protecting Americans’ Data from Foreign Surveillance Act . The bipartisan legislation would create new protections against selling or transferring Americans’ sensitive personal information to high-risk foreign countries. Read more here . On Thursday, Senators Jim Risch (R-ID), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Steve Daines (R-MT), Mike Braun (R-IN), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Josh Hawley (R-MO), James Lankford (R-OK), Rick Scott (R-FL), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Roger Wicker (R-MS), and I introduced the Prohibiting Federal Emergencies for Abortion Act . The legislation follows reports the Biden Administration may declare a public-health emergency to protect access to abortion services nationwide if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. The bill would block the abuse of this executive authority granted under the Public Health Service Act, including other emergency declarations under the National Emergencies Act and the Stafford Act. Read more here . On Thursday, I led my colleagues in introducing the Preventing Terrorist Transfers to Afghanistan Act . The bill, which mirrors a bipartisan provision in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023, would prevent the transfer of individuals currently detained at the United States Naval Station in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to Afghanistan.
