Florida Panhandle Technical College was recently named the number one community college in the state by Best Colleges. The Practical Nursing Program was ranked the best in the state by Best Value Schools for the second consecutive year. Both Cosmetology and Welding programs are ranked number two in the state by Prepler, with Cosmetology also being ranked number two in the nation. Read more here. |
A pair of Columbia County Sheriff’s Officers didn’t choke during a big moment back in January. And thanks to their actions, neither did one inmate. Sheriff Mark Hunter recently awarded the ‘Lifesaving Medal’ to Detention Officer Mark Collins and Corporal James Maulden in recognition of the pair saving the life of an inmate at Columbia County Detention Facility. The inmate has fully recovered from the incident. Read more here. |
Local Tallahassee chef and small business owner Nikki Pettineo will be a featured contestant in an episode of a new TBS reality cooking show airing on May 26th. “Rat in the Kitchen” is a game of high-stakes cat and mouse where viewers get to play detective. Throughout the season, a mix of professional chefs and passionate home cooks compete in a series of creative cooking challenges in hopes of impressing Chef Ludo Lefebvre. Read more here. |
