Dear Friend, After being hit with multiple disasters this past week, it’s critical for us to be reminded of the good going on in our communities. Here are a few good news stories from Florida-02 to help brighten your week -- | Will Melzer, Christopher Cramer, Max McCord, and Luke McCord recently hosted a lemonade stand to raise money to help those affected by the Chipola Complex wildfires. The boys worked hard for two hours hustling their product and raised $350 thanks to their generous neighbors in the Cove. They donated their earnings to Rebuild Bay County. We’re all so very proud of their thoughtfulness and compassion. The future of North Florida is in good hands! | Troy Anderson, the Taylor County deputy that was shot during a traffic stop on February 22nd, has been released from the hospital. Deputy Anderson still has a long road to recovery, but he’s making excellent progress! His community has rallied together to raise funds for his recovery and show their support. Thank you to everyone who has been there for the Anderson family! And thank you for your service, Deputy Anderson! We are all rooting for you! Read more here. | Allan J. Valladares, a World War II veteran and longtime American Legion member, was honored on his 100th birthday on March 7th by fellow members of Al Krietemeyer Memorial Post 284 in Belleview. Post Commander Danny Rowlett kicked off the gathering by introducing Valladares, who was born March 7, 1922. During his military service, Valladares served on a type of ship that placed mines to protect coastal areas. Happy 100th birthday to this American hero!
