Florida State University offensive linemen Brady Scott organized an online fundraiser recently, looking to raise money to help a young leukemia patient named Liana Joy. Having been diagnosed with leukemia at just 5-years-old, Brady decided to use his platform and influence to start a GoFundMe page for Liana that has since raised more than $6,000, as of Sept. 29. Panama City’s Quality of Life recently threw a Nerf war event at Frank Nelson Park. The group partnered with a local chapter of Nerf enthusiasts and some other local community groups to put on this family-friendly event where over forty kids were in attendance. The group aims to decrease juvenile crimes occurring throughout the area by giving kids a more positive outlet. This is an awesome idea! Thanks to everyone involved! Read more here. |
It was all fun and games Tuesday night despite the rain as a couple hundred people attended the annual National Night Out event. Agencies such as the Lake City Police Dept., Tobacco Free Columbia, Columbia County Library, and the United Way of Suwannee Valley set up displays to teach young and old alike about the intricacies of their jobs and how individual residents can make their lives safer.
