NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICTDear Friend, Less than a year into President Biden’s time in the Oval Office and all we’ve seen is crisis after crisis. We have a crisis on the Southern border, an inflation crisis, a hiring crisis, an energy crisis, and now a crisis in Afghanistan.
The current events in Afghanistan have been very difficult to watch. Families are trying to escape the wrath of the Taliban and American soldiers doing everything they can to protect those they fought so hard for. In a time when we need strong leadership and a game plan, the Biden Administration has neither. Right now, the Administration cannot even guarantee that all Americans will be safely evacuated. This lack of leadership is abysmal. Our troops and our Afghan allies deserve more than this.
I can only imagine how difficult this must be for our veterans. Many have invested a lot of time and effort into protecting this country, and make no mistake, their hard work was not wasted. I want to thank all who have served in Afghanistan and other areas in the Middle East. I’m incredibly grateful for all that you’ve done to protect this country and others.
Next week, I will head back to Washington D.C. to vote on Speaker Pelosi’s latest $3.5 trillion spending bill. It seems the only thing growing faster than our lists of crises is our national debt. That said, I intend to push back against Speaker Pelosi’s wasteful spending. Please be sure to keep an eye on my social media for updates. Please read about my week below:
This Week in the District Updates for Veterans Coronavirus Updates This Week in the District Touring Lucky Goat Coffee
This past week, I had the opportunity to meet with Ben Pautsch, owner of Lucky Goat Coffee. Ben is a Florida State alum and has been in the coffee industry for over 20 years. Lucky Goat is an impressive operation with five locations in Tallahassee, one location in Jacksonville, and partnerships throughout our district. Thank you, Ben, for having me and for giving me a tour of your flagship location! I’m looking forward to stopping by for another cup of Goat Tracks soon.
The Exchange Club of Tallahassee Meeting
On Friday, I had the privilege of being the keynote speaker for the Exchange Club of Tallahassee. The Exchange Club is an all-volunteer, national service organization for men and women that focuses on Americanism, community service, youth programs, and child abuse prevention. During my legislative update, I talked about the origins of COVID-19, our current spending crisis, and the crisis in Afghanistan. This is a great group of exceptional leaders who have contributed a great deal to our district, and I look forward to meeting with them more in the future.
Thank you for all for having me! It was truly a pleasure.
