The First take: The military conflict between Israel and Hamas escalated again overnight with the IDF successfully launching targeted attacks on the leadership of Hamas. With no cease-fire on the horizon, we anticipate a third party (looking at you, Egypt) may be needed to get both sides talking instead of shooting at each other.
The First take: Will this be the bill that Democrats use to kill the filibuster? The closer we get to 2022 and midterms, the more desperate Democrats will be to shove this ironically named "For the People Act" down our throats. Meanwhile, the U.K. is all over mandatory voter I.D. for its elections. (See he "bonus" story below.)
The First take: Liz Cheney has been stripped of her leadership post in the House GOP. But that didn't stop her yesterday from delivering an impassioned speech to try and change the outcome. While it didn't work, no matter where you fall on the controversy it's a good watch.
