Defending Life, Family, and Liberty is an uphill battle. But look what happens when California Christians refuse to stay quiet! In an encouraging victory for religious freedom, a bill to ban Christian cops was just amended after CFC's exposé led to national pushback!
As we originally reported, AB 655 could have labeled all Christians who hold biblical views on abortion, marriage, and gender as members of "hate groups." The bill would have then banned people of faith from serving as police officers, and members of law enforcement who belonged to biblically faithful churches could have even been fired!
But a groundswell of opposition showed this legislation was too extreme, even for California. After CFC published our original article last week, several national organizations picked up on the threat. The Federalist and Decision Magazine republished our reporting to sound the alarm.
Many of you spoke out. And yesterday, the bill's author responded!
"We have put in amendments to remove the specificity regarding denial of constitutional rights," said Assemblymember Ash Karla. "Because," he acknowledged, "you do have the First Amendment right to be part of groups that may differ in opinion.”
This victory shows why our work at CFC is so necessary. Even when you're tempted to think you can't make a difference, days like today remind us: God is working through our prayers and actions!
Together, you and I have an opportunity to stand firm for Life, Family, and Liberty. AB 655 proves that there is still an opportunity for the church to be salt and light at the Capitol and across the Golden State.
As we continue to stand for truth and righteousness in Sacramento, will you join us by making a tax-deductible gift today?
Your financial support is crucial to our work to advance God's truth through the Capitol, Church, and Culture. Thank you for fighting alongside us! |
