GOOD NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICTDear friend, With the holidays just around the corner, be sure to tell others how grateful you are for them. Kindness pays dividends. To help put you in the holiday spirit, here is some good news from this past week. Patrick Joynt, the coordinator for the Marion County Marine Corp Reserve Toys for Tots, is making sure that the children of Marion County will receive their toys this year despite the complications from COVID. Not only has he made it his mission to help these children, but he has also brought along many small and large businesses of the surrounding area to help pitch in. Your service to our country and our children is truly appreciated. You can read the full story here.
Panama City’s Cops 'n Kids Holiday Helpers Toy Drive will provide food for 130 families this Christmas and pave the way for about 300 children ages 13 and younger to get a gift. Thank you to the men and women in blue for their service to the community and for their generosity during this holiday season. You can read the full story here.
Though bad news is unavoidable, sometimes you can turn a negative into a positive. After the cancellation of Saturday’s Florida State game, much of the prepared food was to be thrown away. However, due to the proactive thinking and generosity of the university, the food was able to be donated to a local homeless shelter. The amount donated generated 100 meals for members of the shelter. You can read the full story here.
