Headline: Chuck Schumer says Biden could forgive $50,000 in student debt with executive order
What's Up: During Joe Biden's Monday address on the economy and his plans for the country, the former VP talked about forgiving $10,000 in student loan debit. Shortly after the speech, Senator Chuck Schumer (NY-D) talked about Biden doing more than that—a lot more.
Quote: "'I have a proposal with Elizabeth Warren that the first $50,000 of debt be vanquished,' said Schumer. 'And we believe that Joe Biden can do that with the pen as opposed to legislation.'" — CNBC.com
The First take: We're a little uncomfortable with Chuck Schumer's generosity, especially when it comes to OUR money. Biden offered $10,000 and his own party immediately upped the ante to $50,000. Why stop there? Why not just write and executive order giving every American a billion dollars and a unicorn? |
