Last Friday, I sent a follow-up letter to McKinsey & Company’s Global Managing Partner Kevin Sneader after receiving inadequate responses — and, in some instances, no response — to my initial July 17, 2020 letter. My original letter requested information regarding McKinsey & Company’s relationship with the Chinese Government and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), including state-owned and state-run companies in China, and what impact those relationships have on McKinsey’s relationship with the United States Government. In my follow-up letter, I continue “to press McKinsey and Company for answers about the powerful firm’s business dealings with the Chinese Communist Party” and “accuse McKinsey of evading questions.” Read more here. On Tuesday, I welcomed reports that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will move forward with a regulation that would delist and prohibit initial public offerings on U.S. exchanges for Chinese companies that are out of compliance with U.S. regulators. A day earlier, I wrote to SEC Chairman Jay Clayton urging the agency to “make unfettered Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) access to the audits of firms listed on U.S. securities exchanges a condition for both initial and continued listing. On Tuesday, I joined Congressman Ted Yoho (R-FL) and a group of bipartisan and bicameral colleagues in sending a letter to Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres urging him to leverage the international organization’s investigative and political mechanisms to urgently investigate and elevate the ongoing crisis in Xinjiang. On Tuesday, I released a statement after the Senate failed to invoke cloture on the confirmation of Judy Shelton to be a Member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. On Wednesday, Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), and I sent a letter to President Donald Trump urging the Administration to change U.S. customs policy and guidelines to allow Israeli goods produced in Judea and Samaria to be labeled “Made in Israel.” Read more here.
