GOOD NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT
Dear friend,
With today being the 19th anniversary of September 11th, 2001, it’s even more imperative that we reflect on the good happening in our district. Here are some of the top good news stories from our district to help you start this weekend off on a positive note:
The rebuilding of a local skate park is rolling along thanks in large part to the volunteer efforts. Ernie Watkins, a Panama City construction company owner, began his quest to rebuild the skate park at Pete Edwards Field in Panama City Beach in March. The county supplied Watkins with the materials, and he supplied the labor. Watkins is putting the finishing touches on the park and says that it should be ready any day now. College football is back! In Tallahassee, Florida State opens its football season Saturday at home against Georgia Tech at 3:30 pm. There will be a lot of changes this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic so three sportswriters from the Tallahassee Democrat shared their thoughts on the season and the game. You can read the full story here.
The Wewahitchka football team is raising money for one of their assistant coaches, Gene Rollins, who is currently in the ICU at Shands Hospital waiting on a heart transplant. The local community has banded together to support Coach Gene in hopes of a safe and full recovery. You can read the full article here.
Thank you for your continuous support and for contributing to my weekly good news email. As we head into the weekend, please join me in taking a moment to reflect on the events of September 11th, 2001. Reflect on the bravery, the sacrifice, the selflessness, and what it truly means to be an American.
As we reflect on past tragedies and continue taking measures to combat COVID-19, maintaining your mental health may become more difficult. I encourage you to visit this page if you are experiencing anxiousness or hopelessness.
