GOOD NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT
Dear friend,
Labor Day is here, and summer is almost over. Here are a few stories that will help you start the extended weekend off on the right foot:
Ensuring that our children are safe and healthy is of the utmost importance. This week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that it will extend several waivers through as late as December 31, 2020. This will give summer meal program operators the ability to provide free meals to all children through the end of 2020. You can read the full story here.
The people of Apalachicola are finding safe, healthy, and beneficial ways to stay busy during the pandemic by cleaning up local areas we love. Volunteer groups have cleaned up riverfront parks, ramps, gathering places, and stretches of river. You can read the full article here.
Though it’s been a difficult time for businesses large and small, Panama City is continuing to make a comeback. The community has remained resilient following Hurricane Michael and throughout this pandemic. It’s clear Panama City still has a promising future with room to grow and the ability to evolve. I would like to end this newsletter highlighting a member of our district whose selfless work outlines what it means to be a positive and beneficial individual to our community, state, and nation. This week, Lynette Griner from Chiefland was awarded with the Above & Beyond award at this year’s Florida Forestry Association’s Annual Meeting. Lynette truly walks the walk and talks the talk on behalf of the timber community and has done many great things for our foresters. Thank you for all that you do and great work!
Thank you all for your support and for contributing to my weekly good news newsletter. I look forward to sharing more with you next week.
As we continue taking measures to combat COVID-19, maintaining your mental health may become more difficult. I encourage you to visit this page if you are experiencing anxiousness or hopelessness.
You can also follow me on Facebook and Twitter for more positive news and real-time updates.
I hope you all have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend. God bless you all!
Sincerely,
