GOOD NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT
Dear friend,
Our thoughts often dictate our reality. Over the last decade, scientists have found that positive thinking can reduce stress and improve your overall health. Here are a few positive stories to help you start this weekend off on the right foot.
In Bay County, Decaris Hunter has made it his mission to spread love in hopes to benefit his community. As a thank you, his community has since banded together to help Decaris pursue his dream of becoming an EMT. You can read the full story here.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office received a $7,500 grant for injured first responders from Running 4 Heroes, an organization founded by 10-year-old Zechariah Carteledge of Winter Springs, Florida. Carteledge’s mission is to run a mile for every first responder who has made the ultimate sacrifice and to raise money to provide financial relief for injured first responders and their families. You can read the full story here.
In Leon County, the City of Tallahassee is partnering with Habitat for Humanity to build new homes for people in need. The City has helped build eight homes in the last three years and on Tuesday, Commissioners broke ground on three more. You can read the full story here.
Thank you all for sharing positive stories from our district and I look forward to sharing more with you next week. Remember, no matter how difficult it may be, we must remain optimistic. Start and end each day reflecting on the good that’s going on in your life.
As we continue taking measures to combat COVID-19, maintaining your mental health may become more difficult. I encourage you to visit this page if you are experiencing anxiousness or hopelessness.
