NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT
Dear friend,
When we look back at times like these, we won’t remember the hardships. We will, however, remember the good things others did for us and the good things that we did for others. Use this time to show people that you care for them – kindness and goodness will prevail. In Gulf County, the Citizens of Gulf County Recovery Team joined forces with the Christian Community Development Fund and student volunteers from Auburn University to rebuild Threase Grimsley’s handicap ramp and porch, which were damaged during Hurricane Michael. COVID-19 has presented some new challenges for the group, but they have adapted and are continuing efforts to collaborate and coordinate resources for recovery in Gulf County. Franklin County’s unemployment rate improved markedly last month, dropping three percentage points as the labor force grew and the jobless rolls shrank. Through these difficult times, improvement is always on the horizon. This is outstanding news for Franklin County, and I believe the unemployment rate will continue to improve as we progress forward. During the pandemic, we have seen many people pool assets together to help those in need. In Chipley, the ‘Youth In Action With A Purpose’, accompanied by local law enforcement and volunteers, offered an assortment of fresh, canned, and dried foods to residents in need.
