While our ability to campaign in the traditional sense has obviously been put on hold for now, that’s not stopping us from connecting with our community and looking for ways to be a helpful resource during this pandemic-induced economic shutdown. This week, I took to the internet for fantastic conversations on Facebook Live with Kevin Sheilley, CEO of the Ocala/Marion Chamber and Economic Partnership, and David Pieklik, Executive Director of the Nature Coast Business Council, which is dedicated to supporting Levy County business owners.
So far, just over two thousand folks have listened to my discussions with Kevin and David. We touched on a wide range of issues, including the Paycheck Protection Program, the steps we need to take to reopen our economy, and the strength of Marion and Levy Counties.
Kevin is an ally with me in supporting our small businesses, and I appreciate the time he took to share how the CEP is meeting the needs of our business community during this crisis. Even now, at least 40 local businesses are hiring, and Kevin believes our community is well-positioned to bounce back strong as things open up again.
